A recently deleted thread covered whether use of after market exhaust voided the warranty. A reference was made to the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.
A few have asked for the reference. The question popped up in multiple places, so I'm trying a new thread. (If any of the pros in the field have another take on this, please let me know).
15 USC 2302(c):
(c) Prohibition on conditions for written or implied warranty; waiver by Commission No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that ....
Try reading just the "bold" parts. (I used to read Federal regulations for my living - still do, but to a lesser extent). The "English" translation. The manufacturer cannot require Brand XYZ replacement parts as a requirement of the warrenty. IOW - The warrenty is not voided by use of aftermarket products unless the manufaturer can show the part failure was directly attributable to the effects of using the aftermarket part.
