Black

Post by MikeCam »

Rivi,

I am going to paint/replace panels and create all black also.

Haven't decided between matte black, gloss black, or replacement panel graphite shades. Maybe a mix.

Those fork covers have to go black fast (on the yellow bike); then the rear side panels. Finally, the tank panels.

What are your ideas?

John,

No word yet from Morton's. I am trying not to over anticipate.

Verrrry tasty. I still have to do a lot of the little mods to make it mine before I jump to painting, but that black sure is enticing.

The current list to get and do - all of which grew onto my RR over the years: Driving lights - Motolights or PIAAs mounted under the oil cooler. A Signal Minder - I'm spoiled. Hyperlights - maybe. A louder horn - although it's better than the Roadster's was. Throttlemeister - I have Bob's BMW version but the actual name brand is cleaner and I don't think Bob has one for the smaller diameter handlebar. Frame sliders - not to be a pessimist (the RR's are built in). The saddlebags are on order. I may have to break down for the BMW tank bag because it looks like it would be hard to fit an off brand on the tall plastic tank. I have passenger peg lowers on order from Verholen. And if I can convince my wife that her right foot is too hot, I may have to get her a nice CF exhaust someday.

Right now I'd much rather just ride than install all of that stuff, so I'll probably wait to Winter to get most of it.

black!

Post by rivi7777 »

I will do a mix of matte and gloss black with some CF thrown in. I want a very small accent of color this time around on the tank only. Still kicking around the stripe/shape/pattern and colors for location. My first purchase, however, is going to be the centerstand and some more tires...

I would think that matte black would look best. I would also try to paint the headlight mount, and the footpeg mounts.

There was a cool K1200R at the MOA with a custom green prismatic paint job. I will try to find some pics, but I forgot to take my camera.

Coop,

Are you the moderator or the instigator? Surely you must realize KR artists have dispelled whatever gay accusations you may throw at us with 163hp. If we wanna paint 'em pink, we're okay with that - right boys? :?

The passenger/pilot peg mounts should be powder-coated black, and either a titanium or CF exhaust can would make it complete. Let the exhaust pipe blue all by itself.

Kevin, don't get your panties in a wad, I said that tongue in cheek...no offense meant. But, 163 hp? Does that make you a *real man* ??

Coop,

No offense taken or even perceived. My tongue was as far in cheek as it could go, but evidently not obviously enough. I recall your posts well enough to know you were just joshin'. Sorry if I was inartful in my facetious reply to your facetious challenge. I was trying to make light of the concept of manhood as machismo in the sarcastic persona of Bender, but must not have pulled it off - or maybe I didn't pick the right emoticon.

Kevin

p.s. Besides, we all know your manhood is directly related to how loud your bike is, not the actual horsepower.
