barbacks for r1150r

Post by rbmitchel »

What are the best bar-backs for a r1150r. I'm 6'1" and when I sit on the bike my arms are fully extended. Looking for suggestions.

Depends on how much you want to spend and personal preferences for appearance. I use the Moto Techniques. They're cheap and serve me well. Do some searches and maybe look at Sierra BMW web site and others. I think Verholen makes a barback for our bike.

Before you decide on barbacks, have a look at the Wunderlich Touring Wellness handlebars. They improve (IMHO) not only the reach but the bend of the bars. Although a bit more trouble to install, they are not much different in cost from the higher end barbacks. Cheaper than some.

I am also 6'1" and use the ones from Moto Techniques.

They offer two different models for the R1150R. I have the 1" rise / 1 1/4" setback model and they work well for me. I also have the BMW high seat and the Verholen Peg Lowering Kit. This combo puts me in a very comfortable riding position.

Yes......lean forward more...

I've actually rotated mine a little more...forward...that's how I like it.

Before putting bar-backs on you could try rotating yours back...just a little and see if that helps first.

It only takes a tiny amount to be very noticable...give it a go....just loosen the bar mounts..it's about a two minute job.

no barbacks

Try it without for awhile. I'm 6ft. I ended up taking mine off. I like the slight lean forward. Its easier on the back.

rb,

If you decide on Moto-Techniques, be sure to ask if they have any returns or seconds, only about $25 and I couldn't tell mine from new.

I had the Moto Techniques and now that I put on the Wunderlich touring bars, I don't need them at all.

Caveat: Using barbacks may interfere with certain types of after-market windshield installations, Aeroflow comes to mind.
