Any of you UK rock owners taken your bike in to get the dreaded fork corrosion dealt with under guarantee?
Mine is just showing a small patch and as it came with the BMW used bike guarantee I wondered whether it was worth looking into.

We didn't get the silver one in the UK.leno wrote:Let me guess you have blue ones. I've had the forkes changed once and now a year later they are starting to go again. So I'm dumping the bike because I can see that this could become a yearly issue. I would get a silver one they seem to be tougher, but the dealer is shut down.
To be honest, I don't think it would be too difficult to get the fork legs resprayed properly by a professional painter. (there's some guys on the "s" forums who have done it themselves.)

Hi
I bought a used rockster (04) with the 1 year BMW warranty. They replaced the forks because of corrosion under warranty while they were prepping the bike for me. Dealer was Cooper Reading.
I would ask your dealer to change them, and then if / when they go again, tackle the problem yourself.
I think if you are meticulous over cleaning them and topuching in any chips, then they may not blister up.
Hope this helps
PS. Has anyone found a good match for a touch up stick for the blue of the frame or forks. BMW don't do one.
