Crap from the road?

Post by davevagts »

It was 62 out today! I rode around a little, and suddenly at a stop light, I started to smell this burnt rubber coming from my bike. I got her home and looked at it and found this crap all over my exhaust. I attached a picture on where it was. I wish i took a picture of the stuff. I let the bike cool down and it became a hard like plastic. It took a razor blade to get it off. I got most of it. I'm just wondering what this stuff is. I went back to the road I was on to see if I could see a puddle or something, and nothing. Did it come from my bike? Is my bike ok? All the plastic and tubes are ok in this area. I think it had to be something from the road.

I'd guess a plastic shopping bag. Never got one, but hear they make a real mess.

Yeah...a plastic shopping bag...I've got a few of those also...tis a nice smell isn't it.. :D ..you can scrape..maybe even use a file ( edge of )..sand paper..then buff with steel wool or metal polish..it will come up looking like new...and ready for the next one.. :D

Wow...a shopping bag can make that big of a mess! It's smelled horrible! I've already got most of it off with a wire brush, but I'll now go and get some steel wool. Thanks for the replies!! I really thought it came from the bike...but now it all makes sense.

Thanks agian....dave
