Lets see a favorite pix of your R1150R

Post by socalrob »

I may soon be trading my trusty R1150R in on a R1200GS Adv. It struck me that I will really miss this bike, more than any machine I have had before.

Lets see some favorite pixx of your RRs (1200's good too).

My Pic

Post by MIXR »

Well, this thread has the potential to clutter up the bandwidth!

I keep coming back to this pic of me and my bike, even though it's almost a year old now. I have very few pics taken that I'm actually in, but this one is special as it was taken by my great mate (Dee) on our trip of a lifetime. It epitomises the R. Built for long-distance touring, and this is about as long as it gets. I've bored people before, but 16,000 kms in 21 days is pretty damned exciting.

The grass in the background is some sort of tropical spinifex. It grows over head high, and right to the edge of some very narrow roads. We followed this sort of country for about 300 kms across the top of Australia, and never ceased to be amazed.

My bike was faultless. I can look back at this pic over and over and all sorts of memories come flooding back. For me, this is a pic that I will find hard to beat no matter how artistic any future ones might be because it shows a stupid old bastard (that would be me) at the wrong end of his country on a bike that is doing what it was intended to do - Carry that same stupid bastard and all his gear safely and reliably from A to B.

Yep - This one does it for me. Cheers all.

I don't know why I like this old pic of mine.

Maybe it's the soft blur because it was taken in low light.

It was taken the morning after I had just ridden in my first Icicle Ride..(midnight till dawn ride)

The sun was coming up..I had just got my first badge for completing the ride..and there she was..just idling away..waiting to take me home.

Also in Colorado, 2006, atop Mount Evans, the highest paved road in the US of A (over 14,000 ft.):

Here's another oldie: behind the bike is the New River Gorge bridge in West Virginia. This is the bridge famous for bungee jumping. I was there in June, 2003.

In Ireland last July. We were running all the way around the coast anti-clockwise & my brothers bike packed-in halfway around the Ring Of Kerry on Day 5.

This bike carried me, a weeks stuff and my brother (and all his stuff too) for 3-hours across some of the most fantastic scenery in Europe on totally deserted roads - due a to a World Cup semi-final on TV. Our plan was in shreds, I'd never carried a pillion before, we didn't know where we were going or how we'd get back home, but it was a great ride that I'll probably never forget.

I am a terrible photographer, and I have a very cheap camera, But I always liked this picture of my "R"
Image

This photo was taken by Taosports (if my memory is correct) of his "R" and is one of my favorites,
Just a great picture of the "R" and some other fine rides. Den

My R right after I took it for a test ride, also my first BMW test ride.

The K12R behind it is what the sales guy rode. He nearly hit a deer right in front of me that day  Yep, BMW brakes and the telever suspension tested!

Can you say SOLD?

This is my favorite. Not the best, but this was taken while on a 2-up camping trip in Colorado. We had just come down from Rabbit Ear Pass at 11,000 feet or so through a snow storm. Full on. Fully loaded, 2 up, heavy snow, and wind with a 9% grade. The storm hit right as we were at the top. When we came down out of the storm , just as the clouds cleared there was this little pull off over looking a beautiful valley. The R had delivered us safely through the storm and this was a great time. The bike looked so perfect at this moment.

Here's mine.
Note desert camo seat, German military logo, and polished diamond plate luggage platform. The passenger seat is also camo but had a BMW roundel embroidered on it.
