Rock the Box 2007 (April 29th)

Post by riceburner »

UK Rocksters Meet up.

Be there for Midday on Sunday 29th April.

If enough are interested on the day I'll do a short rideout in a favourable direction. :D

If anyone's unsure where Boxhill (Ryka's Car Park) is : http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dl ... 35&A=Y&Z=3

Who's coming? (list time!)

RB.

I am ...

... as soon as I manage to climb out of bed and get some breakfast.

If midday means 12:00 PM - that target can be met on request.

Nowhere special, I'll probably be there early and will try to park in an obvious spot. :)

You can count me in... as long as I find the place...
If there is a specific place that we are gonna be spending our time it may be easier to provide us with a post code... using Google maps is a LOT easier to get direstions.

That is myself and guest

PS: 12-ish?

I'm very surprised there's anyone in London with a bike that's not ridden it to Rykas Cafe at (the bottom of) Box Hill! It's the gateway to some fabulous riding country across Sussex, Surrey & Hampshire. You'll love it.

There's a large carpark at the roundabout which is full of bikes both days at the weekends - a lot of people meet up first thing & then zoom off to Brighton etc, whilst a lot come just to stand around drinking tea & talking bollocks. Very friendly - with everything from hyperbikes, choppers, trikes & Vespas.

Ha! It's on their history page - a Honda publicity shot I think, staged complete with a model on the bike... For anyone that's put off, don't be - they have a good cafe onsite now, though it is still on the formica-table end of the catering scale...

I will hopefully see you all down there for a brew & a sausage bap if I'm not away that weekend - I'll park my "single headlamp" a discreet distance away, though not too far, as I do at least have Rockster handlebars now 8)

Due to unforeseen circumstances I may have to skip ...

  ](*,) :smt119

I have to attend to something. Although quite unlikely I may be able to somehow make it.

There will be other days out - it is not as if I am selling the bike.

Hope you can make it Duke!

so far the list is :

RB
Beanie
Chipko
Telson
Hirsty

possibles
Duke

Might be a few more from other fora (I've been tarting the event about a bit. ;) )

Was there a decision made about a rideout or not?? I'm happy to lead a random tour of Surrey and Sussex's finest back roads, but it might get VERY random. ;)

Great day! Boxhill was jam packed - I think there was a scooter meet/run going on - MASSES of classic Lambrettas and Vespas.

Was good to meet Chipko, telson (and partner), Beanie, and Est51, unfortunately Chipko and his immaculate Ed80 had to take off early. Hope to do another meet sometime soon and will check the dates of the Boxertrix Burton meet so we can crash it. ;)

Pics are here - some pics of a couple of "interesting" scoots in amongst them, just because! (if anyone wants the full-size version of a pic (those are all reduced), let me know which one and I'll email it over).

Ace!

Post by chipko »

Sorry I couldn't stay to make it five in a row. Great to meet you though. And thanks for capturing the naked terror on my face - 'if I nick the paint on just one of these custom scooters, their 200 mates ARE going to stomp me to bits'. While Ricey captures it all on camera. Thanks for negotiating me through the scooter chicane, and for setting it all up.

I had to three-point turn so many times I pulled all the muscles down my left side and rode home in agony. Next bike: a nice Honda step-thru.

Must take some pictures of my own bike!

If you want all the pics I took, i'll do you a CD?

Ronnie - the bike with the bungee points was Est51's - he said he got those hooks from his dealer - more than that I do not know!
