I have an annual business trip planned to Las Vegas next week, and about four months ago I reserved a rental K1200R from the dealership and extended my trip by a day to ride it...
They called me today and said they can no longer rent K bikes, and all they could offer me was a GS, which I have no interest in.. Even a R1200S would have been fine. So here I am, last minute, with an extra day in Vegas and no bike to rent. All I can find are Harley's, which I also have no interest in (lots and lots of Harley's for rent in Vegas).
Does anyone happen to know of a place in Vegas that rents something fun besides a Harley?

I agree - If you haven't had a decent ride on a GS and aren't vertically challenged, try one. Fun bike. Not quite to my liking and I've ridden four of them trying to convince myself that it's what I want, but very nice and surprisingly quick and agile.

Well I had to sort it all out in Las Vegas at the last minute. The sport bike rental shop was closed for the day because they were all at the track. I found a new place called Moto Trends that was super helpful on the phone. Right now they have a bunch of harleys, some customs, and a Ninja 650R. I expect they will add bikes as they go along. As I said, I wanted different, so I went with the ninja.
The guy that runs the place was great, very helpful with everything and even let me pick out a new jacket off the rack to take for the day.
It was an ok ride. After getting home and riding my bike again, I just can't believe what a great bike my R is. The ninja is cheap I know, but you could really, really tell. It only had 3000mi, but seemed real rough to me. The engine vibrated below 5000rpm and didn't sound good till you hit 8000. The fairing was vibrating and making noise too. The only good thing I can say is that it had a very comfortable riding position (maybe even better than the R).
I had a similar experience last year with a Ducati Multistrada I rented. Felt like junk to me. I did ride a friends very tricked out Monster 900 recently and that was a really fun bike, it put a smile on my face for sure.
All-in-all, this just reminds me what a great bike I have!
