I am taking 10 bikes with me over to Italy in August. ( I will be riding only my beemer )
I would like to go down via germany, austria and switserland, and come back to the UK via the Route Napolian in France.
Has any one done the run to Italy from the UK and if so I would like any sudgestions you might have. There will be 4 beemers, one fjr1300 and a Moto Guzi Norge and a susuki 1400 and some others that I carn't remember at this time.

maybe you could use some suggestions from an Italian biker:
- try to take secondary routes, they are much more fun, free and you can see much more of Italy than via the highways; of course it will take you longer
- Italian car drivers vary a lot in their way of driving and in their attention to bikers: often they leave you the way in congested routes but be careful in passing signalling your presence with your lights and do not hesitate to use the bike's horn in case of doubt
- when filling up the tank at a gas station use the do-it-yourself pumps: you will not risk of having fuel spilled out because of that funny frame rod in the middle of the tank
- be careful on wet cobblestone or tram rails (you probably have the same problem in the UK)
- bikes can usually be parked park rather freely in Italy and they are allowed to park for free even in the "blue stripes" areas; only thing park two or more bikes in one car space otherwise car drivers get nervous
- be careful when in cities to mopeds and those large scooters: their drivers are really dangerous, they drive rather erratically and too fast for their means of locomotion
- always lock your bike and use those additional disc brake locks.
I am sure you will have a lot of fun, enjoy your trip to Italy!
