Well, I have either gone insane, become an old man, or just woken up and come to my senses; I signed the papers today that will trade my K1200S in for a new R1200R!
I test rode the R a week ago and since then have been trying to convince myself NOT to buy it! I failed.
The gearbox is smoooooooth!
It turns on a dime!
The fueling is great! (so I don't need the clutch in tight turns)
It is windy - which is good: It slows me down!
It doesn't lurch forward and try to hyper accelerate if I nudge the throttle after hitting a bump!
It has timeless naked good looks!
It can be a sports-tourer (just add cases), a sportsbike (just change down a gear or two), or a mean cruiser (wow look at that scenery).
It's the best and most versatile bike I have ridden for years! How come the magazines aren't all raving about it?!

Wecome Hass,
The magazines did rave about it. The few tests I saw anyway. This bike is truely a jewel. Been riding for 42 yrs. and I can say it's the most usefull bike I've ever owned. Light, refined, handles, looks really cool, and goes like stink when you want to.
Ride safe, Hank.

Hass... congratulations on the new bike. Like most of us here, you mistakenly "test rode" a R12R. There is a theory that BMW has nanobots implanted in the seat cushions that cause instant lusting and permagrin if you ride the thing.
There is no cure... you wallet instantly comes out and you are hooked.
