Thanks to your advanced warning, I double confirmed the bike model and part number with MAW when I ordered it.

The part number is 18111395. I can send you photos. I've had trouble posting photos on this site.

I haven't had time to install it yet (my wife is away on business this week and my 6 year old son has invited half the neighborhood over this weekend for meals...)

That is a nice can on your bike, great blend with the black. What is it? It looks like a Micron or a TBR (Two Brothers Racing).

BTW, I also like the large alignment shim that you used to block the license....you must work around large rotating equipment.....

Just installed the Akrapovic (took 20 minutes). It weighs 6.4 lbs and sounds a little deeper than stock with the inserts but looks alot better.

I can't keep the photos to post here but I can send them.

Question about the Akrapovic for R12R

Post by BackNBlack »

Hello,

The Akrapovic looks great on the R12R! Thanks for the photos.

Quick questions - is the Akrapovic label a sticker or metal plate - wondering if it is optional. Without the sticker is there any Akrapovic name on the metal itself? (I saw one on display in dealer and it looks like the brand is part of the metal finish vs colored sticker/plate.

Also, have you tried with the baffles removed, and if so, can you let me know if you're happy with the sound - loud enough, too loud?

Thanks,

Bill

Uh this reply must have belonged in another thread as I don't see a post by myself in this one..
The exhaust is made by a dutch company called BOS and I'm afraid they don't sell there endcans in the USA(other forum members already looked into that).

That shim was something I had lying around from the days when I was a mechanic for an american carwash company.

It came with the Akrapovic sticker attached. It sounds deeper than stock but not loud. I'll probably keep the inserts affixed.

Fit and finish is outstanding, on par with the Leo Vince and Remus pipes I've used in the past.

Yes. It's a slip on. Installed one on mine last week. As usual, it takes longer to wiggle off the old one than to put on the new one. Easy to install. Fits perfectly with sidecases and center stand support. It's titanium. Sticker is paper (bumper sticker). Almost as quiet as stock. Haven't removed baffles yet. A bit more power noticeable over 5k. Very happy with it, but major benefit is the look. Bought from morepowerracing.com. Great to deal with.

Check out BOS. There are pictures on this forum of the can installed. This can is one that mimics the angle of the frame and still allows the bags to be installed. Mine will arrive in two weeks. If you look at the pictures on this forum and on BOS's website you will see what I mean, very, very nice. :D

I've been a Staintune fan for a long time. Had one on the RS, have one on the GS. If all you're talking is the slip-on, they're in the ballpark with everyone else price-wise, and they're basically lifetime units. Having said that, the Remus Hexacone looks pretty sexy. 8)

When I asked my local dealer for the tinted sports windshield they gave me a strange look, because normally when you order a R 1200 R and ask for a sports windshield they put on a clear one. But when I showed them the BMW Motorcycle Equipment Brochure http://www.motorcycles.bmw.com.au/indexframe.asp they got one in for me.

Akrapovic LOGO

Post by Lost Rider »

Has anyone with the Akrapovic exhaust removed the logo?
I'm replacing my banged up exhaust with an aftermarket one, and the BIG yellow label is a deal killer for me on the Akrapovic.

Can it come off?

I can't seem to find out which one I'll end up with, the big yellow "sticker", or the lazer inscribed one like this:

Any other pics with the Akrapovic on the R would be appreciated.

I've been leaning towards a Leo Vince’s SBK pipe because of this. I know this logo comes off...

joe....it's just a sticker....like bumper sticker.....there is a product called goof off that can easily take care of removing the sticker....then the residue is easily cleaned with wd40. i have the akra on my bike.....looks good....and without the buffles sounds great.....with buffles sounds like the stock one...overall i am very happy with the purchase.

EDIT: you are most likely to end up with the sticker......i have yet to see another one like on you tube (laser etched)......
