The R1150R is great bike, but asking whether or not it's the best bike on R1150R.net is like asking sailors where the best 'entertainment' is.
Some are better than others.
I can't imagine trading mine for anything, even with a mondo dorko fairing.
It's starting to be like a favorite pair of old jeans or shoes.
But if this were in my garage I'd like it too, http://youtube.com/watch?v=HKEuzxC4eGc

Re: is this the best bike ever?
As a the (retired) lone mechanic in my shop's service dept I got to ride a LOT of bikes, to scuff in the new tires, of course. Working on them too. You develop a preference for certain types of bikes as you age. Right now I prefer great handling, powerful brakes, NO vibration, 1 hour comfort, modern looks and shaft drive. The R1150R has all that -plus- excellent fuel economy, a powerful 50 Amp car alternator, easy/cheap at-home maintenance, the fantastic TeleLever front suspension, the ability to cruise effortlessly at 90MPH (145kph) until the fuel stop and a smooth torquey motor whose wide powerband impresses you 95% of the time spent riding it . . . . as opposed to a high performance trendy bike that satisfies you barely 5% of the time. That other bike's brief moment is when it is wrung out full throttle to redline. The Beemer is also perceived as a quality destination you finally arrive at . . . rather than . . . just another 2 wheel tool to get you there someday.
I'll have owned my 2002 R1150R for 7 years come this July 28th. Almost 61K miles. There is nothing else !!!
(except the R1200R).

Re: is this the best bike ever?
here i go starting a fight but i like the 1150 better than the 1200
idk about performance wise but just sitting on the 1150 is more comftorable to me, the 1200 was almost to crotch rocket feeling to me. Idk i guess im in the major minority

I thought that the R series was a great bike, that is until i rode a Suzuki Bandit but i guess
arguing that point is being the cat amongst the pigeons.

The Bandit is not as loved in the States, but I agree, it is a very top notch All Rounder.
