I just received my Staintune pipe and cat replacement and will mount the system tomorrow. My initial impression was Oh my God this thing is a piece of fine jewelry, fit and finish were absolutley flawless. I made custom jewelry in a previous life so I know good finishing. The unit seems to weigh far less then stock and if it keeps my feet cooler I know my tranny will be happier. Tomorrow will tell about sound and performance. .

Based on posts here, and the fact that I am going to full size system cases on both sides, I decided to can the can.

I have had the can off for two weeks or so, but am not quite happy with the increased dB's. I also think being Canless in Colorado affects torque and MPG adversely as well.

So...

I am going to try and find a happy medium, putting a resonator tip on the cat stub to change the sound and still allow full cases. Not an original idea, someone else here has done it with a Hedman tip.

I decided to go with one of these... (Pacesetter MONZA Big Bore)

I could only find a 2" version, so I have made an machined adaptor ring. I also plan to minimize potential problems by adding a stiff bracket between the new T-bolt band clamp and the frame (the rear shock adjuster mount look promising atm).

Just some food for thought.....
there is a 1 3/4 version of it here http://www.automotivepartsnetwork.com/s ... duct=14945

I got my bike with Two brothers.
Like it or not, I have nothing to compare it with. Great sound though. Something to remember is a loss of backpressure with the cat removal. Quite noticeable…
Someone told me that the Remus works better with the bikes.

Why, the stock muffler of course. You can't make a Roadster into something it isn't. It is a mid powered, well engineered package and to arbitrarily change systems without regard for either the bike or (yes) the environment is ill advised. Now on my VMax, anything goes, but leave the Roadsters alone. They're too perfect as is.

I know I'm wasting my time, but somebody has to say it.

Happy Halloween !

Thanks.

The place I ordered the 2" one from claimed a 2-3 week delivery time, so its not something that they keep in stock obviously. I never even found an internet vendor that listed the 1.75" version -- only the manufacturer references.

Your Google-Fu skills are better than mine. :smt027

Since I have the adaptor ring nearly ready, I'll see if my first choice comes through in a reasonable time. If not, I will give the vendor you found a try.

I love this place. :smt055

I have an oval carbon BOSS exhaust on my Rockster

Sounds good, deep tone, nice rasp when accelerating, the carbon really looks good on the Rock 8)

I have a German made stainless steel ZACH exhaust on my Q.

Image

It's 1.5 kg (3.3lbs) lighter than the original exhaust.

Quality, assembly and most of all sound are excellent :D

Some people say this thing makes the Q sound like a B52 bomber...
