Now its hard to get it in first gear and near impossible to put in neutral. I'm wearing out my tyres going back and forth to the dealer. Anyone know what is causing this.

Re: That GD Clutch Again
UPDATE.
Neutral light is not illuminated when GB in neutral. (side stand down kills engine, also starting inhibited while light is out (need to depress clutch to start))
Neutral light illuminates with upward pressure on gear lever but extinguishes when pressure released.
I smell mis-rigging of something following clutch change.
Can anyone help

Re: That GD Clutch Again
Hard to explain about the neutral light since the gearbox didn't come appart. Was the neutral light switch during the repair?
The hard shifting and not finding neutral symptons can be sourced at:
First, did you compare the old and new replacement parts.....
Entrained air in the clutch hydraulic system......
Too thick a clutch disc.....
The slave cylinder is not providing sufficient stroke......
The pushrod is worn at the tip or bent.......
The last three above would manifest in the bike trying to creep forward after gear selection.
Your ride is an 01' (transition year) and BMW might have made engineering changes after the introduction.
Good luck.....

Here's an interesting comment by Anton, authoritative oilhead tech, found at bmwbmw.org:
Not necessarily applicable to snowprick's clutch woes, but perhaps interesting to some of us here.

Why 1100 over 1150? More reliable clutch, mostly. Slave cylinder and splines. For an IBR bike I could deal with them with a lot of inspection, but the 1100 system is just better. Also I like the 1100 gearbox better, once it's set up right, although the 1150 transmission is more robust. The 1150 wiring is NOT robust. I would not rally an 1150 without doing a valve job on it (Vinman's bike is not an anomaly).
For an upgrade, I'd go straight to the CAN-bus bikes, where you don't have the fluid compatibility issues in the clutch slave, you don't have 10 pounds of wiring crammed in a 5 pound bucket, and you get some really nice engine management. I'd still tear down the FD and tranny, but that applies to any BMW rally bike IMO, Airhead through Hexhead. I'd specifically look for 2007 and later.
