I have wanted to change the handlebars but haven't done so because I was worried about two issues:
(1) clearance between bars & tank when steering (obviously parking, moving the bike around - not when under motor)
(2) fatigue - just returned to Sydney from Phillip Island for example, over 1,000 k's not a prblem with OEM bars but a potential issue with flatter bars.
If you haven't encountered any negatives I'm going shopping!
Off the top of my head the standard bars that come with the R12R are 750mmL x 80mmH x 140mmSweep back.
For me it was to much sit up and beg, I wanted a flatter bar.
There would be clearance issues if you don't work it out, which I did.
When looking at bars on the internet I could only go with ones that supplied there dimensions which was Renthol and Rizoma. I went with Rizoma because they wore priced right and the dimensions are 730mmL x 40mmH x 120mm back.
With the riser to take the fat bar @ 20mm H I'm only 20mm down on standard. I would like to be a little more flatter. Remember it doesn't matter what bar you go for you will have to drill a locating hole through the bar to take the left grip. I've got a work shop full of tool and a drill press so it was easy for me. I wouldn't recommend doing it in a vise with a hand held drill.

Take the LSL or Wunderlich Sportego bar. They are lower and a little wider (76cm) and go on with stock clamps as also come pre-drilled for the heated grips...
Rizoma is italian though and adds to the bling-factor...

Forgot to comment about your carbon fibre BST wheels.
They sure look pretty but honestly can you feel the difference in handling?
Or only in your wallet... $3000...outch!
I wouldn't trust any mechanics doing tire changes as hamfisted and non caring most are unfortunately nowadays...
To be honest I bought the wheels because they look great. Because they are lighter the bike has less weight to rotate when moving so it gains speed quicker, also it turn even quicker than it already does.
As for changing wheels, well that's simple, I do them myself

Oh, that looks like the one I just gave to charity. You should see my new diamond encrusted tire changing machine!!!
Again, not jealous...

Great looking bike Kieran R1200R, in fact that's the way I would like to go with mine. What exact model handlebars are those and those two black adapters (risers?) in the middle? I took a look at the Rizoma site but I didn't know what model/size to look for...............and have you try riding with the stock mirrors on? do you still have a good look of whatever is behind you?
Gracias for the help.
Rudy

The bars ar Rizoma and you can get them from here,
http://www.cjmoto.com , look on the left hand side of the page and click on handel bars, then conical which are fat bars, there is also risers there as well but I didn't get there's because I all ready purchased a set. It's free world wide shipping, but be prepaired to wait because they come on pack mule, get nothing for nothing!
The bar end mirrors come from here,
http://www.oberon-performance.co.uk ,
Ok the original bars with the original mirrors use to vibrate at certain speeds impairing rear vission. Surprised that with the new bars and end mirrors there ZERO distortion. The end mirrors are not even weighted. I don't now what it is, if the fat bars make a difference or because there not stuch out there on a stork, but there's no buzzing in the mirrors.
They are tricky to work out how to fit, but if you settle and look at what is required you can work them out. If you do get a set, remember not to tighten them up to the exstent that you can't move them, because you will need to go for a ride and adjust on the move!
Hope that helps some of you.
Also I put a picture up of a Cee Bailey screen I bought to put on when I'm off touring.
I haven't tried it out yet but will post once I have. Remember this is not permenant!
Also I installed a Ventura rack and bags.

I checked the Rizoma Conical handlebars and the specifications are 725mmLx89mmHx140mmBack a little different from the numbers you posted above

I just want to be sure before I order.
Thankx.

They are as I mentioned, once I got them I measured them and that's what I got.
They are deffinately not 89mm high.
