if you just spent a kilobuck to reduce the weight of your motorcycle by 0.25%, you want people to know!
I think I may be guilty, just went for new shocks, came down to three choices Hyper Pro (black or dark purple springs), Wilber (blue springs) Ohlins (Bright yellow springs that everyone in the motorcycle world knows cost big bucks). Guess which ones this victum of human nature went for.
It really is neat stuff; my former boss looked at using it for accelerators, but turns out there are some serious downsides.
Re bling ... my last bike (a CB1000) got a Two Brothers full-replacement exhaust system with metallicized carbon fiber can. (That stuff has the surface texture appearance of CF, but the fibers are metallic coated; that about doubled the cost of the system right there, as I recall.) Plus ... *ahem* other stuff.
Y'know, you could have painted the springs ... Hmm, we have some cans of Plasti-Dip in the lab, I wonder...
Seriously, I have zero problem with bling in whatever form; if the guy (or gal) who rides it likes it, that's all that matters in my book. And I actually am looking forward to seeing pics of the A-frame when it's done.

I agree with you Kieran---I almost like my R12R more than my S, BUT---I still love the insane second wind that sweetie gets when it hits 6300 RPM. Plus, it has that more 'raw' race bike feel (non linked brakes, ABS can shut off, higher seating position). It's kind of like my Ferrari in the garage---ridden on good weather days (but not babied), kept in the safest part of my garage, never ridden by anyone either then me or my mechanic, and it gets the lady's juices going when I show up riding on it or they come over to my pad (heeee heeee). I have every article on it written by a mag, every brochure in English and German, and I ordered it from BMW exactly the way I wanted it. Then I 'blinged' it along the way till now. Getting an R&G tail tidy, folding brake/clutch levers, and a Carbon rear hugger in a couple of weeks. It barely has 3500 Km on it. But when I am an old man in my 80's and I show up riding that hottie to some bike night or show, it will command respect!
My R12R is my work horse and gets most of the exercise. I only bought it to improve upon my Rockster. I know exactly what you mean by the R being more fun (and easier on the wrists).

No dought it's a good bike, and yes I almost forgot about the hit over the 6500rpm mark.
If i was able to keep the 2 bikes i would have. I suppose you have best of both worlds!
