I also have a deposit down on a 2012 R1200R but it looks like my delivery is running about a month after yours :(
I did get the turn signals and rear brake light as led which will be cool.
LED indicators and brake sounds like a great idea… hummm, might have to ask my dealer about that…
Congratulations on the new bike !
Did you have any luck with getting your dealer to drop down much off MSRP? I am a lousy negotiator when it comes to money which is why I settled for some farkles. And which color did you order? I am getting my bike in a couple weeks because it was already in delivery to another dealer and my dealer worked out a trade. I just so had to have a red one. There was no question about the color for me.

The price never made it down to where I needed it to be, but he did come down a bit from MSRP. He discounted some accessories as well. He had both the classic and a red 2011 in stock, but like you I wanted a specific color and got the grey. This bike was also in-bound to this dealer, which might have been why he had some minor wiggle room, but still makes me wonder why the long wait... no worries.

It’s still going to be in the triple digit temperature range here in north Texas for maybe a couple more weeks, so that eases the pain of waiting just a bit.

Getting my wife geared up (boots, pants, jacket, helmet, gloves...) is going to push out some farkles, but I'm still determined to replace the stock exhaust... has always been a rewarding mod for me. Pictures as soon as I can...

What's new for the 2012 model, are there updates/changes compared to 2011?

Based on things I've read while researching the bike, the only change is that ABS now comes standard on the R1200R and the MSRP was adjusted accordingly.

I'm unclear about what colors were offered in 2011, but I think they were mat metallic smoky grey, metallic light grey, or metallic red apple, alpine white ? (Touring Edition?), and the Classic color scheme. For 2012 (I think) it is mat metallic smoky grey or metallic red apple and the classic.

This is an interesting question because believe the BMW site is out of date and doesn’t reflect the exact state of their model(s). Sort of amazing, considering that this is typically the first entry point into their products. If you’ve never been to the Triumph website, take a look, because that’s a great example of giving consumers what they need to make informed decisions… that’s a sanction of the website, not the product, although I do like their bikes!

I also love the Triumph bikes and had my heart set on a Speed Triple. I also really like the Tiger 1050. But i realized after spending some time looking at the R12R that I can have a bike that combines the touring prowess of the Tiger and that fun factor of the Speed Triple. I can't have 2 bikes so imho the R12R is the very best bike to have. I spent so much time looking and there really isn't anything that stacks up to this bike. I even looked at the Ducati Diavel which is a lot of bike that is a lot of things but could not see myself on a first version nor could I justify the cost. Can you tell I am just a little excited to get this R12R?

I believe not much at all has changed from 2011 to 2012 with the R12R other than maybe color choice. I actually expected to be buying a 2011 but the dealer said it is a 2012 rolling off the lines now. The big change was from 2010 to 2011.

Welcome aboard,
I took posession of a 2011 apple red 12R about a month ago. I understand it is about the same as the 12's. Mine came with the comfort low seat. I find it fairly comfortable. Time will tell how it holds up. This bike is fantastic. I had an 07 1200GS before the R. Very similar in ride except the R has less do dads I don't need. Cost is less as well. This leaves me with more cash for goodies. I used to live in Wake Forest just north of Raligh. There is some nice riding around there. Anyway, enjoy your new bike, I know I enjoy mine...
