Hi Dave,

Manhawk (aka Rick) is alive and well. He popped in at ours in Moss Beach last week on his new K bike.

He sold his R1150R to a riding pal of his - trurns out though the guy asked him to 'look after it in your garage for me'. He lives on the east coast and wants to ride it when he visits. Of course Rick still gets to ride his 'ex' Beak!

Bob, it is good to hear that Rick is alive and well. Is his new bike yellow?
If not he will have to get new leathers.
I wonder if Kevin is in Iraq? He is a doc.

Kevin was absent from the board for a couple of years but has recently bought a K1200R and posts on the K1220R board right here.

bmwdave52,

Thanks for thinking of me. Fossil is right. Events conspired so that I was away for a couple of years but I'm back, although still with very limited time to post. I put a new blurb on the "tell us a little about yourself" that splains a little.

I have managed to avoid deployment to Iraq or Afganistan directly but I still have been dealing with the war. Most of the Marine casualties come through my hospital in Bethesda. They survive because they have pretty good flak jackets and helmets, but when exposed to the typical IED (improvised explosive device) they usually have terrible facial, neck and extremity injuries. So as a head and neck surgeon, they have kept me busy. It's depressing and rewarding at the same time if that makes any sense.

My other new time eater is that I started evening law school two years ago, so the lawyer jokes on Off Topic have been great.

It's really nice to be back here and great to 'see' some old posters still around. This is still THE quality place to talk motorcycles, and just about anything else that's good in life.

Take care,
Kevin

i too, have been posting less and less frequently. i think that for us 'old timers', the draw to this board is the Off topic, and that section has definitely toned down over the past year or so.

i think the point that this happened was when Pat sold his R. We should make him buy another beemer.

Hey Chef! nice to hear from ya...I may be heading to San Diego in January with the wife...she has a conference...would love to hear your picks for dining....I want to try the famous mexican restaurant you have there, the one that supposedly introduced the cuisine to California. their chips are supposed to be phenomenal!

As for the Tony up in jersey, or you guys talking about TonyT607? That's tony trama and I was with him at the BMWMOA rally last month.

Hey Scotty,
Let me know when you're coming to town and let me know what you like to eat. I might just be a little biased about restaurant choices, but you asked!
Well...we didn't exactly introduce California to Mexican food...we just sort of perfected it a little, but how in heck did you hear about our chips?! :o

I forgot the name of the restaurant, but on the Food Network or the Travel Channel, they did an expose on a restaurant that opened earlier last century and that many hollywood stars would go to...and that their chips are unrivaled.

mmmm, chips.

:P

As for food, I, my kind sir, am a gastronomique! I love it all, except for crazy things like chittlins, monkey brains, herring in cream (god i hate that!)

As for what I like, some of my favorite things are foire gras, white truffel (not the cheap black crap! ), snails, and tacos. yes, tacos. man chef, i like a lot of food. i can't, and wouldn't, eat a la french everyday, but if it were healthy, i would. 8)

I'll let you know as soon as I know! Thanks!
