WOW. Another immaculate black Roadster.

Forget about what the older Bonneville's used to be. The new Bonnie is like a Jap Bike and that's a good thing. All modern engine design and sophisticated, reliable electronics. It will really grow on you, but after my having owned similar bikes like you've owned I can't help the funny feeling that I see another Beemer in your future.

I plan to ride to Alice's Restaurant tomorrow to meet with Rich and Lady Ann. It's gonna be a bit of a haul, but I just put my Alaska sheep's wool cover on that DAMN Trumpet bench seat..... God I hope it works!

I was hoping to meet up with "Uh(fellow)Gordo" sans his Armadillo today, but it seems not to have worked out. He's on the west coast to visit with in-laws, and we were hoping to do lunch at Al the Wop's on the Sacramento River. My phone rang at the brewery this evening while a crowd began to gather around my "refurbished olde Bonnie"..... I joined the crowd to tip a pint or two, and I still don't know if it was him. Woulda enjoyed kick'n it with him.

At this point, I'm one tired puppy. All day playing on the Bonnie', bought the obligatory tank pads in Sacramento, rode the river road there. When I returned home with the same headache I started out with, I downed a big Gatorade and made my way to Modesto to pay respects to Corey's co-workers.... sad, sad happenstance. I came home and threw back three pints of Berry Wheat beer at the brewery with a fellow motorcycle enthusiast.

It's late, I'm a bit sunburned even though my face shield is tinted, my back & butt hurts from riding a buck-board over 200 miles, and I'm supposed to do MORE miles tomorrow?

HEY, Alice's Restaurant at 11:00!!!! Rich on his K1200R, Lady Ann on her Piedmont Roadster, and other's from Stanford....... and I'll show up on the BonnieBlack. If anybody has good drugs to relieve my back discomfort, I'd appreciate it..... otherwise, I'll hafta self medicate with (lotsa) water and a little Jack Daniels......

If I'm not mistaken, that seat on the '06 Roadster picture Rich posted, looks like the body-work could accept the seat in a lowered position!

This Bonneville is an interesting exercise in getting in touch with the Zen of motorcycling (again). It doesn't have raw speed or brute torque to seduce a fella, so ya gotta stay on top of yer game and dance with the slower side of (motorcycling) life. I mean, it's really a trip!

But nothing did EVERYTHING so well as that Roadster of mine! And I might suggest that the added punch of the 1200 could just make a perfect bike, even perfecter still! Yeah, I could easily be lured back to the '06 Roadster as pictured........... with it's new engine.

Well done, Pat! Glad to have you back in the saddle! The highways and biways of America just weren't the same without you!

Nice ride, Pat. It ought to keep you honest for awhile. Let us know how it works out; I may be looking for a higher MPG bike if gas prices stay up.

I was told to expect this..... and it's happening everywhere I go.
Complete strangers are found to be standing next to my bike, staring at it, often times
I don't even know where they from come! Or I roll up, blip the (loud) exhaust,
turn the key off (us Brit' Bikers don't use the kill switch... ), and
can hear (through my ear plugs), "See honey, that's an old Triumph,
great restoration job isn't it?!"..........

And so it goes,
"Yep, I had one just like that... only had one carburetor though"
"I knew a guy who would own ONLY Triumphs, he rode those things EVERYWHERE!"
"You should see those things climb a hill, ain't nothing can go up a
mountain like them thar Triumphs!"
"Yeah..... there was this guy, used to have a wire in the tank that he
would rattle to see how much gas he had left."
"I took my buddy's 650 out on the freeway, it was chopped, had ape
hangers on it, and loud. Cop pulled me over, judge asked me if I fixed
everything..... I told him it wasn't my bike...... FIVE DAYS IN JAIL?!!?
That last little story from "Bear's Folks" , one of our members.

I'm liking this bike more and more. And I know it sounds weird, but as I
looked at my reflection on the Trumpet in the shop windows, blue-jean
cuffs rolled up, Silver full face that looked (in the reflection) like a
football helmet ala Jack Nicholson style..... I was taken aback by how 'at
home' that reflection looked. And on the way home from a little 70 mile
jaunt to a remote biker bar this evening, my being became aware of a
prior incarnation riding in similar fashion down a lonely stretch of country
road, on my Bonnie'.

Should I get a tattoo, a DA, or take up cigarette smoking..... just so I can
roll up a pack in my t-shirt?

I hope you enjoyed your ride to Alices - I couldnt make it as just got back from the UK.

I trust you will be wearing 'that' helmet with the goggles then? (with the Beemer roundel just to get 'em goin'..).
