Now
there's something that always bent my nozzle!
WHY do they insist on strapping those wires to the silver bars with
BLACK zip ties!?
I snipped mine off 10 minutes after getting the bike and zipped the wires to the brake & clutch lines.
Clean, neat, done and done.
..............rant off.

Does going to the roadster bars or bar backs effect the flickability of the rockster.Also this is my first post and my first BMW. I really enjoy this forum.

I went to Roadster bars after 2 years on a Roadster and 8 months on the Rockster with standard bars (half of that with barbacks).
The only difference I noticed was less pain in the elbows. Sorry, but those flat bars put my wrists at an unnatural angle and put too much strain on my elbows.
The bike seems as flickable as ever.

I guess I was blessed (BMW ergos) with being slightly under 5'6" and long arms, since my Rockster bars suit me just fine. That butt burn is another story, however.

The butt burn can be rectified by a different saddle or reupholstery. Beware of the Sargent saddle though. It's almost as high as the BMW high saddle AND wider. So nice to sit on, not so nice when trying to get a footing. As a fellow shortie, I can tell you with certainty that the Sargent requires for some serious reaching.

Was just about to ask the question 'Are rock bars flatter than the r' Looked over here and there was the answer, right at the top of the page.
Is the riding position on the rock very different then?

As far as I can tell, having owned both models the riding position is no different. I know the front forks are from the 'S' but think the trail is about the same.
The bars are what make the difference as far as I can tell and now I'm back to R bars I reckon the the seating angles are pretty much the same.
As I said though it wasn't the amount of forward lean which affected me, it was more the way the flat Rockster bars forced my elbows too far outwards.

I had a hip (or more specifically a butt) problem so bad I rode from NJ to GA laying on the tank with my legs straight back.
Got home and put risers on a set of Roadster bars, lowered the foot pegs and got a sargent's seat.
The next year road from NJ to St Louis - NO PROBLEMO!!
I'm 58 but only 5'11" so not as tall as you, but probably not is as good a shape either, but now she's just right.
Another thing I did was to the can and put a full sized bag on left side for better long distance travel.
