Outstanding design and details, Lobo! Would you make some for us?

Hi Lobo,
I would suggest that you try running an FEA analysis on your rack design, if you haven't already. Maybe there is a seat where you work that has CosmosDesigner installed or the Professional version.
Although it looks very solid, you may find a way to improve it without too much of a change. That software is excellent for showing up where the crucial stresses are. You might just give Jerry the Pirate some real competition!

JFBarron,
Excellent suggestion. I have access to a seat of SolidWorks with FEA on it. I'll run some stress tests and see what the stress points are. It's not something I've messed around with before but I should be able to figure it out. I'll report back on what I find incase anyone is wanting to make one from the drawings I've posted.
I'll see what I can do about getting some of these made, The hardest part is the bracket that attaches to the bike, as it requires the most work. When I find out I'll re-post with more details later.

Outstanding job!
Just curious ... what is the reference to Carroll Shelby that you can see in the third picture? Is that something on your garage wall? I just saw him (Shelby) today, about an hour ago.

RDSmith3,
I didn't even notice the sign made it into the picture. We restore Sunbeam Tigers, and the "And you thought Carroll Shelby only built Cobras, Meet his other Preadator" sign is the top of a display board we use for car shows. Just a way to attract some attention and lend some credibility to a little known car.

My Pleasure, Glad to be able to help out. My only adivice is to make sure when you put the bracket onto the luggage rack to check and double check bolt lengh. I put a little bump in the top of my luggage rack when I put the first bolt to test threads. Screwed it in a wee bit too far

Best of luck with the project!
