Good idea. I use something similar, latex "surgical/doctor's" gloves. Find 'em at any hardware store. They are cheap (Gee, just like me!). They'll keep your hands dry even if your gloves are soaked. I think the best solution for the hands is the neoprene over gloves. I live in a region that's not all that cold, but it may rain on you at any time during the winter months. I found early on that Goretex gloves would keep my hands dry, but the wet leather would suck the heat oout of them causing some pretty sore frozen hands. Local MC shops sell the large industrial version of dish washing gloves for about $10. Probably an excellent idea. I have a pair of Lee Parks deerskin gloves that I like so much I wear them when it's much too cold for them. The neoprene over glove would let me wear my favorite gloves with a water proof back-up in my case.

You live near me in Ontario....get on down to Cycle World in Etobicoke and get some Oxtar boots. Then scoot over to Riders Choice at Dixie and the Queensway in Mississauga for some Dainese waterproof gloves. They are armoured.

You can buy me a beer with the leftover dough.

I had a similar situation like yours about two months back. My favorite boots are my Sidi Vertebra II boots which are not even close to waterproof. I picked up these from aerostich for my boots:

I know that you did not discuss what you are using for rain gear but I have found over my years of riding that quality rain gear is a plus. I picked up the following from http://www.newenough.com

I had all the gear on when riding through two hours of straight rain to West Virginia. I was totally dry when I got off my bike. A friend who rode with me ordered up the boot covers and glove covers after seeing how mine held up after the trip.

For the best all season water proof glove, go for the FirstGear Master. Has a cuff; it's made with Hipora and has a nice little squeegie on the forefinger.

riding here on the great wet coast of Vancouver Island, I find that the BMW summer rain gloves work very well year around. For boots I use the Savana(mispelled?) from BMW they work very well.

OK after years of allowing my scottish blood to rule my motorcycle attire and getting wet and cold I finally splashed out on BMW boots (allrounder) and gloves (Atlantis). These are truely superb, as posted earlier I had 5 days of rain on a trip around Northland NZ, early winter. My hands and feet NEVER got wet... sold!
