Been there, done that on a big painted crosswalk with morning dew. I could have used all the advice here.

I've learn shift gear in middle of turn is most dangers action you can do on car or bike. beside the rpm, gear, clutch combination, there's another major concern is weight transfer. when you clutch in, the weight transfer from rear to front on all rear wheel drive base vehicle. once the weight shift to front, rear tire lose its traction little. but that change is not enough to skid the rear tire. when you release the clutch, the weight transfer to rear again which mean alot of torque and power apply to rear wheel. in dry condition with decent tire it's no big deal but on wet road... I giess that's what cause your skid.
I did what another member suggested - shift to 2nd as soon as the bike start rolling then let R's tremondous torque do its job.
Always down/up shift before into a turn. slow accelate through the turn.
