I don't think the 1200R is ugly however I also don't think it's as "tough" looking as the 1150R.

The scoops on the side of the tank really give the 1150 kind of a "fighter jet" look.

To me the 1200R looks too lithe to be a BMW. Sort of looks like a member of the cheerleader squad got picked to play on the girl's softball team. Like someone took and shoehorned in a hex-head engine into a Honda 599 chassis.

What would I really like to see BMW build? How about taking a que on how well the Ducati Sport Classic retros are selling and develop a modern interpretation of this.

Actually that attribute is a great way to build a bike that the ladies will like and is not intimidating. It has a "cute" factor that my Boss likes. She is not intimidated by the size of this R bike at all. Low seat should clinch the deal.

Strategic plan: She gets the RR and I get a GSA? or whatever !

Remember the 6 p's guys

My R1200R with a gas tank like the R90S or the R100RS and the bikini fairing like the R90S had and my bike would be even better. Also have a none German design the instument panel and black wheels like the R1200S has and I could start my own religion.

FYI...Ian Falloon...who does those great BMW books lives just up the road from me here in Melbourne...I was at his house not long ago and he signed his latest book for me...great books..great pictures..he has heaps of support from BMW Germany and anyone who has not seen his books should check them out.

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of this, but my old-school cruiser buddies call all BMW's "Latte' wagons". The young sports-bike guys at work call 'em "Geezer sleds".

I can't wait to apprise them of the fact that my bike is too "lithe" to be a "fighter jet"...For emphasis, I can always throw in the girls softball team analogy. At that point I imagine each will be laughing till beer comes out of his nose.

On second thought, being a geezer, I think I'll just hop on my ugly old R and go get a latte'.

Could be a simile. I'm not sure. It's been a while.

One of the great things about the RR is that you can actually embarrass the heck out of some of the kids on their crotch rockets while riding comfortably upright and grinning like an idiot

Quietly!

Latte anybody? :D

softball girls...built like a brick s..thouse and tough as nails. Attractive to some but not all. Able to beat the crap out of anyone with a "Y" chromosome. These are the girls you call when you need a job done.

I don't know about other places but around here in East Tennessee if you are looking for a whoop ass sort of a red neck girl go to a soft ball game. Some of the worst "sports" ever are the parents of softball players.
