IMHO you should go nowhere near the front brake at low speeds.
By using throttle and back brake only I can perform perfect U turns that are a must for riding on our narrow UK Roads.
My mate is a bike instructor here in the UK and every new rider in the UK has to do a CBT bike test before they can even go on the road with a bike to do lessons with an instructor and the U turn using only throttle and back brake gets them off to a good start in slow bike control. - If you have not tried this method give it a go and you will be amazed how much control you have. Also a must on BM’s due to dry clutch and big expense at slipping clutch to control forward progress.

Thanks, sounds like a great idea. I will find a quiet spot and give it a try as soon as I get the bike (think it will be Tuesday).allanj255 wrote:IMHO you should go nowhere near the front brake at low speeds.

I have finally taken delivery of the bike. As the 20,000 km service is due I decided to take delivery of the machine at the local BMW service centre which is right across town. Prior to leaving my home I was informed that the service centre was on half day today so I ran over there on my Silverwing Scooter. I did it in record time so as to transact prior to the shop closing.
After booking the machine in for the work I was informed that they would not be back in business until Monday (Wed today) as it is a local holiday....... AAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)
Well after throwing my cell phone at the wall a few times I resigned myself to the fact that at least I would have 5 days to read the user manual. That would be a first for me far any equipment I have owned. I normally just use the equipment and refer to the manual when it all goes wrong. Dont we all?
I set off on the long and unpleasant journey back across Manila in the hot heavy holiday traffic. After the grueling journey I took a shower and settled down to absorb the manual.
IT'S ALL IN GERMAN.
I dont read German!
There are a lot of things I would like to say now but I am sure the Moderator would remove them.
Question:-
Does anyone have, or can anyone point me to a soft copy of the:- "Bedienungsanleitung" "Bestell-Nr. 01 40 7 664 380"
Thanks guys.
