Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..

For the price of these motorcycles you would think BMW would engineer a reliable fuel monitoring system that provided accurate instant MPG/K, average MPG/K, distance renaming in M/K and a warning that comes on before the tank is dry. I mean even HD has had basic fuel monitoring for their FI Sportster's for years now.

With the all fuel strip problems I can see why they removed it...but why in the world would the engine temperature indicator also go away, symmetry???

It's probably for just one year or two...until the water head comes out.

Maybe it too was wildly inaccurate and no one knew it, but the engineers.

SUMMARY:
Triumph Motorcycles America, Ltd. is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Explorer and Explorer XC motorcycles. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating data on the certification Label is incorrect. Thus, the motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Part 567, "Certification."
CONSEQUENCE:
The incorrect label could cause the operator to overload the motorcycle which may result in handling issues and/or tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Triumph will notify owners and replace the labels with corrected GVWR data, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010 for more information.
