Thanks to all for the invaluable info. I now have a new plate and currently working on a suitable stand and getting the spacer made, before pulling it down. Still loving the bike, if not the savage brakes!

I was hoping I would never have to post to this discussion. I have 53,000km on the bike. I was shifting from 3rd to 4th and she blew. No drive. Screaming noise from gearbox.
My morning ride ended with a 150km tow home.

2002 R1150R. Helmets save more lives than loud pipes.
