A fair amount of two up riding, several thousand miles of fully loaded, spirited touring, and a little track time. I found them to deliver excellent grip, hot or cold, wet or dry. I will likely buy a set of the GT3's if they can be had, otherwise I will go with these again.
a motorcycle tire for the 1150 that gets 22k? I want it.

We usually replace before threads show at around 6000. Been caught out on long rides and have come home with slicks a time or two. Amazing how fast a tire wears when it gets to the wear bars.

yeah 22k is doesnt compute for me.

my contimotions are about 1/16" from the wear bar. at 5000 miles. I'm thinking i MIGHT make it to 6k. hoping for 7k. could be better, but i had 1000 miles of slab in two days and my commute is a straight line. and, they were cheap. I paid 150 for the set.

My friend (harley) keeps bragging about michelin "commander II's" and that he gets north of 15k on the rear of his rolling iron brick. id sure like to try one, or at least find one like it. but the sizes aren't right. and they're ugly. I thought Id be concerned with handling, But he kept up with me just fine in the Arkansas mountains twisties. even saw the pegs throw sparks a couple of times. :D

Not so hard to spark a Harley.

I've gotten over trying to get mileage out of tires. Just get the best confidence building ones for my riding style is my criteria.

Pirelli Angle GT's at present are in my opinion the best street tire for this bike. Avons Storm a close second.

5-6k on a set of tires? I got that life out of a set of Pilot Powers, much less touring tires. At your rate of consumption I would be buying tires every 35-40 days! Do you put air in them? Lol. The motor officers that I talk to are getting more than that even running on the shoulders of the road.

Plenty of air in mine. 36psi front and 40psi rear. Final run of 330 miles home tomorrow after a run across Scotland to Tighbabruaich. The combo of Z6 front and Z8 rear Metzelers seems fine in all weathers. Still expect 5000 miles or so ftom each.

I just did a search on the Pilot Road-4 tires and chose the voice of experience:
http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/05/13/mi ... ce-review/

Likewise, I checked on the other tire set mentioned, the Pirelli Angel GT and found this:
http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/08/13/pi ... re-review/

Here's a copy-n-paste from the end of the article:
". . . at Porsche’s Nardò Technical Centre, whose 3.8-mile road course provided fast sweeping corners, hairpins, undulating pavement, esses and even a 170-mph straight. We tried the new Pirelli Angel GT on five different motorcycles, and found it provided uniformly excellent feel, and a high degree of confidence and stability. The testing proved it’s a racetrack-capable sport-touring tire that also appears well suited for the road".

For my bike the Angel GT combo set would be $304. The Pilot Road 4 tire combo set runs $322. My 2 most desired performance traits are (dry) extreme cornering stability and long life. As of now, I might try the Avons.

Angel GT's came off my bike. I really like the feel of the PR4GT's, but I'm just an old man on a beemer.

I finally finished the Metz that came with the bike. I have no complaints on them, great tires. I put on the PR4s GT both front and rear :D . Wonderful tires, and not just because they're new. I've put about 3,000kms on them already, and now I can write a report.

The rainy season opened up in Guatemala, which had me test these PR4s in their desirable environment, and they did the job superbly. Controlling the bike under wet conditions, whether only under a slight drizzle or a heavy downpour, became a piece of cake. Assurance is an adjective to describe the feeling. ABS on the bike makes it even more confident.

Now, the rain has subsided, and those same back roads I commuted through, wet with rain, have become a habitual training course. The PR4s grip on the twisties unbelievably well. Up the hills they grab the asphalt solidly, and down again the braking control is very responsive.

As others have mentioned, there is no noticeable sign of wear at this point. I think this is a very good product, so far, and I hope for thousands of kilometers of joy to come. Thanks for everyone's input in helping me decide to buy the Michelin PR4 GTs.

I've run many sets of Pilot Road 2's and 3's on two different Motorcycles (2014 Kawi C-14 & Suzuki Bandit 1250). Some major tours on both and currently will run nothing but PR's. They stick lit glue and wear like stone and are absolutely amazing in the rain. When the current Bridgestones are done on the 1150 (early next season) I will mount PR-4's on it.
As a Tire Dealer and ex-racer once told me. "Spend the money on good rubber now....or plastic and plaster (casts) later". ;)
