If you are serious (I never know  ), I'll hook you up. The guy I used is starting his own business as soon as he can get out from under the virulent task master he works for now. He upholsters for a living, but is opening his own shop on the side until he has enough business to quit working for this other guy. He asked me to let people know that he would be happy to do work for any other BMW owners. I had the seat to him on Thursday afternoon and it was finished Saturday before noon. Not bad turn around time, in my opinion.

Those are Piaa lights. My BMW dealer installed them shortly after I bought the bike, and soon after I realized vehicles pulling out from side streets did not see me coming! That has been over a year ago and 10300 miles and I've only had one person pull out w/o seeing me since installing them. (I did manage to avoid him though) I think they are the best safety modification I've added.

Thanks for the info, Gypsy... this is one practical, appearance enhancing mod that I want to implement soon. Can you please tell me which model PIAA's you have fitted and how they're mounted? Thanks in advance :)

Beautiful job! Now, can we swap bikes for a week so you can wash mine for me. Promise I'll try to keep up to it once you've restored that showroom look!

I like how it looks...coordinated. 8)
Is it comfy?

BTW, I'd planned to mount my aux. lights off the headlight mounts, too (but haven't gotten around to it yet). Did your dealer have the brackets handy or did he just make some?

I’m glad you asked about the Piaa lights – I went out to take a look at the bracket to see if I could tell what kind it was and noticed the left Piaa is burned out. I’ll need to fix that before my trip next Friday.

I had to pull my order up to find the exact ones I have and the light bar. This is what it says:

Installed: 2001-0063 Lamp Kit 1100X 55W=85W ($220.00)
Installed: RCU05555: BMWSL Light Mounts R1150 RT ($85.00)

Hope that helps.

Dug deep to find this one...

My Rockster had a droopy LR turn signal stalk and I initially feared that some unobtanium part was broken. Did a search and found this thread...and the dreaded photobucket 'pay-to-play' notes. Still, between the text descriptions, microfiche images and 30+ years of engineering experience, I was able to expose the loose nut on the back of the stalk and snug it back up. In the process, I found a missing nut on a mounting bolt that probably contributed to vibration in the blinker stalk.

All in all, not a bad repair. Gave myself a full afternoon and only used ~2 hours between wrenching and researching. Cleaned the side panels while I had them off and will do a brake / clutch fluid bleed before replacing the RH panel tomorrow.

Thanks to Gypsy for the effort involved to document the repair. Looking forward to Spring (and retirement) to put some miles on this beast.
