Well finally I managed to upload the pics, we working stiffs have to manage our time……

I truly enjoyed the session as nothing gives me more pleasure to share knowledge and see bike owners become personally involved with the maintenance of their bike. I’m a strong believer that intimate knowledge of your ride, irregardless of brand, makes for a greater enjoyment level.

That being said Rob and his lovely wife Ann were outstanding hosts, Phil brought the Don’t I (donuts) and I contributed with Louisiana boneless stuffed chickens for lunch, to go with the home made potato salad and beans the Miss Ann whipped up.

All the bikes and owners were exposed to the basic maintenance techniques, hands on mind you and were peppered with explanations and personal experiences by the Master Blaster and the two humble assistants Boxer, the lazy one and yours truly the marketing size one.

Boxer and I took pictures and hopefully Boxer will see himself clear, as time permits, to put together one of his famous musical kaleidoscopes…..I have to yield to him as he is the bonifide artist.

To further add to the ongoing debate of the TwinMax ($100) accuracy vs. the CycleRob $3 water manometer the outcome went like this as witnessed by yours truly.

The TwinMax, with a new battery and used as we did….zero out at max sensitivity and balancing the TB’s by determining the side to side swing of the needle (Max sensitivity) will do a pretty fair job, to the point that the bike, in my estimation would be 95% right on.

Installing the water manometer (more sensitive) showed a differential in the columns of ~ 10 to 1 after the TwinMax tuning, albeit a large differential the correction required was minor, but bought you the 5% that the TM was unable to provide. The down side to the WM is that you have to be fairly close on the TB synch or it will suck the H20 out of the manometer or pinch the hoses to add a restriction.

Rockster’s mount was way out when he arrived, coughing and missing and left in a different state of tune….it did have an intermittent skip that we blamed on a weak stick coil…..sic.

Without any doubt, as witnessed by the attendees the character and engine vibration changes noticeably when the TB’s are balanced correctly.

As soon as I clean the garage and free the bike lift I’ll conduct a Tech session for those in the immediate area as I truly enjoyed seeing some of the old folks and meeting new ones.

BTW folks, 129 for about 20 miles just before reaching Blairsville, GA is just like Deal’s Gap, switchbacks, changes in elevation, you name it, just not as closely packed but nevertheless a very exhilarating ride……no I didn’t have a bike or the 911 but a 99 MB and I had some fun….err…..officer….. I was rushing my pregnant wife to the hospital….officer….all the way from Louisiana?......I was wondering why it was such a long ride…..nough’ said
