Thanks for the info. I just finished a 1200 mile trip in Colorado and Utah. Two different times a cop parked on the side of the road watched me and my yellow headlight ride past them over a half mile distance. They left me alone. Several others saw me riding the opposite direction and kept going. So good news all round.

I pass a group of Motorcycle LEOs in the 'hood frequently, and they leave me alone - they even have similar equipment like mine (R1150RTP). People sure move out of the way when they see it. Me likey!

Did anyone get any further on the yellow shield type thing. Seems like a good idea - if someone objects you just reach over and pop it off the bike.

Was waiting for Don to come up with a yellow vs white lumen/visibility report, but it's riding season around here so he's likely off using his bike. In fact I think he's leaving for the Morton's Spring fling today.

You could dye one of the CeeBaileys clear shields. Google "Dye plastic" or such and you get the info.

all you need is some Rit Dye, hot water and maybe a little Acetone.

I have dyed a lot of Nylon fasteners with Rit dye on the wifes stove. Only problem was the bit of stove that I
also dyed!

Sorry Honey!

I have a tinted shield, purchased from a Swedish company, but haven't installed it yet. Will post a photo soon. But due to it's high cost, I would first try dyeing a Cee Bailey cover.

This plastic cover from http://www.mcsafe.se/english is actually tinted green. In daylight it almost looks florescent. I'm looking forward to stunning wildlife so much that they just stand and stare while I ride safely past them.

Big day today, I finally went and transferred my plate to California, having waited for the Illinois plate to expire....
Anyways my bike passed a pretty thorough state inspection, with the Yellow headlight, for what ever that's worth.

Joe,

Now that you are all moved into a new place, maybe your UID should be "Desert Rider" ;)
