While waiting for them to be fitted I checked out the local bike shops,

I got back and found that the rear was done and the front was being done.



Check out my new tires...I can't wait to test them out..I feel a ride coming on.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......New tires. I can't wait for mine to wear out to put some fresh meat on them. What kind did you go with this time, and what kind ofmileage did you get out the the Pirelli's? My rear Strada is looking a little thin, and I have almost 6k miles on it. I think I can get another 1000 out of it. Maybe.

Thanks Mike... ...John...I got almost 20,000 Kilometers (12,000 miles) out of my Perelli's..and the same out of the Perelli's before them.

I loved the Perelli's..they've worn well and gripped great..but this time I just felt like a change and went with the new Michelin Pilot Road 2.

I also just read a magazine article about how they gripped the best in the wet...and that's where tire grip counts the most IMO.

Thanks for the info DJ. Take a good look at your front - it looks like it may be mounted backwards.

Out of the tires I've mounted myself, Michelins seem to be the toughest. Plus they don't mark the light part of the tire, like what Metzeler and Pirelli do. It makes balancing a little easier.

John...I'll check out the front tire direction thing...and here's the test results..I know you can't always believe what you read...but.

What about dynamic balancing?

Every bike shop i visit tell me that they cannot dynamic balance the
BMW single sided rear wheel.

By the way the tyre is not mounted the wrong way.

I was just looking at a set of these after seeing the blurb about the dual compound. Nice grippy edges and a hardwearing centre strip. About time someone got this sorted!!
Only problem I have is that the Z6's I fitted last year refuse to wear out!! After 4K miles I reckon they're about half way done so will have to wait a while before I can get those pilots under me.
Let's see those feather edges soon DJ!

Hey - any chance you have more photos of your flyscreen? It doesn't look like the speedster screen -- but, looks like it could be pretty darn cool.

I may have to take my wheels off at the end of this season to change out the tires and get the wheels powdercoated black....I am moving every day toward hooligan...gots the perfect bike to do just that!

As for what tires....I will be reviewing options when the time comes. Thanks for your pics!

Thanks Jaquie...My little fly screen is from a 650 GS..with the bottom cut to fit around the headlight.

It mounts off the standard fly screen mounts...I like it...Here's a couple more pics of it.

DJ, I'm jealous. I was looking for new shoes for my R1150R and I can't find the Pilot Road 2 tires anywhere!! Not even pricing! If you don't mind me asking how much (about) were yours? I really like the tires and would like some, but it looks like I'm on the wrong side of the pond.... A Michelin USA rep told me to check back in 4-6 weeks, but had no solid date. If anyone stateside knows where we can get these, please let me know!

My tires were about the same price as the Pirelli's Diablo's that I have been using in the past (btw great tires).

Out of about 4 brands that I had to choose from there was only a few dollars difference in them all.

I think the PR2's did cost the most but only by a few dollars.

They cost me $450 fitted...remember our dollar is different to yours (much weaker).

They should be available there very soon I'm sure.

Oops Edit: I went to the Australian Draggin Jean site. We have Draggin Jeans here, but I don't think they're the same. My tag says made in USA. I bought them from an on-line company called Fast Company. Check it out on line. What's up with that?

Oh, I like the tires.

Phil..yes they are Draggin' jeans...Combats...They have about 5 different colored combat camo's now.

I would suggest ordering them from Oz because the Draggin's from here are made better than the Draggin's that are made in the US..(so I've been told).

They also have much more kevlar..They have a wide strip of kevlar down the side of the leg and hip area that the US ones don't have.

You would think they should be the same...I don't know what's up with that.. ...next time I meet the owner of Draggin' jeans I'll ask him.
