Breakfast run to the lights

Post by Sit »

A group of us from the BMW Riders of Oregon have been trying to get a monthly breakfast ride going for a few months now. This month we met in Scappoose on Hwy 30 and after breakfast we headed towards the beach. Unfortunately this weekend was also a campout weekend in the Gorge with the Washington club so not many people showed up, 2 actually. Any way, was a great ride to the coast, with little rain on the way. Once in Astoria, we jumped across the Columbia into Washington and visited the North Head lighthouse and viewed Cape Disappointment lighthouse. Was pretty interesting to hear some of the history of the lighthouses and the keepers.

Here is the North Head lighthouse. It is over 105 years old.

You can see the Cape Disappointment lighthouse in the background. It is even older than the North Head lighthouse. They are both still in use today guiding ships into the mighty Columbia

Once done with the lighthouses, we headed back down Hwy 4 on the Washington side to Longview and then back into Oregon. The trip back ran into some heavy showers, but we were dressed right and it didn't dampen the ride.

With some luck we will keep the breakfast rides going. If you're in the Portland Metro area, keep an eye on the BMWRO yahoo page or email me and I will try to keep you in the loop if you want to join us.

No it was not that cold

The little spikes are for a small tank bag. The bag actually locks onto those and never touches the tank. It is perfect for small items, camera, glasses etc.
