Okay eveyone help me out. Long story short, bought some lids off of IBMWR from a guy selling them as touring lids. Got them today and they are what I would call standard lids which I have. He of course says they are touring and that BMW only has two lids, city and his touring size. By everything I have seen, there are three lids, city, standard that most people seem to have and really big lids that are touring. Looking at parts diagrams for the bags, they list 4 different lids for cases, not counting city lids, so am I right or just nuts?

IMO...there's.. the small 'city lids' .. the 'normal/large lids' .. and the 'extra large lids' .......also the white cop bike city lids.

He may be confused by the badge option with the lids...there's the BMW roundel .. and either the red reflector badge or the one that says Touring.

So you can put a Touring badge on a city case lid and some would think they are Touring lids.

These do not have the touring badge on them and from my limited understanding, other than being larger, the touring lids have a rubber bumber on them?

I'm not sure but I think the rubber bumpers are available for both normal/large as well as the extra large as an option.

Correct - the "bumpers" are an accessory, not standard,

If you get the extra large lids you might need some of these stickers.. :D ..Here's a gif showing the three size lids.

That's my understanding too - I got the regular lids with the bike, and bought City lids from eBay afterwards.

The smallest ones are next to useless, unless you have something very specific in mind that you need to carry. I can't get my boots / lid / notebook PC in either of them, and the nearside case with the exhaust cut-out is then only big enough for a few pairs of socks ...

The extra-large lids would seem to be more useful for you guys in the US / Oz, but are far too big for our little island in the UK!

What he said.

Just because they have the "Touring" badge stuck to them doesn't mean they're the super-size lids. My "City" Lids have "Touring" stuck on them!!! ;) (because the badges were stuck on at the dealership, for some reason they gave me the panniers with the City lids on, and supplied me with (unbadged) "normal" lids seperately).

The guy selling the lids, and having them returned to him has figured out that there are three lids, so it looks like everything will work out, wont have my large lids for a trip I am taking, but oh well.

The triangle bumpers on the large lids come on the lids according to my local dealer. FYI

Trainmaster, the part numbers are 71607652735 and 736
