Hi,

My 2003 RR is going in for a 12000 mile service in a few weeks, in the meantime I have decided to do a few things myself (oil change/filter, air filter, sparks) to learn a little more about the bike and maintenance in general (after doing some on our old GN250 recently I'm a bit more confident!)

I was wondering if any of the other UK members here could recommend anywhere to get the required bits and pieces? My first stop was the MotoBins website who sell a 'service pack' with oil/air filters, sparks and a few bits for about £39 + VAT + postage. Not sure if that's a good deal or not yet, I've really just started looking around.

Any info/advice would be much appreciated - and I know these forums are absolutely full of that!


I'm really excited to start trying some of the simple things, as I love my RR so much and hope to keep it for a LONG time hence I'd love to be able to do as much work on it as I can in the coming years. I have also just bought an old Honda CB350S for £100 which I intend to strip and rebuild in order to learn more about bikes in general, without risking any expensive experiments on my RR

I use Motorworks for service kits and 20/50 oil.

Moto Bins or Motorworks - good service, & prices, from both. Also both very helpful if you ring up with a query.

I would have used Motobins (I think it was) recently but when it came to ordering the kit the person I spoke to was a) unclear on what I needed (and their website/catalogue was also unclear), and b) absolutely ADAMANT that the Rockster had 5,000 mile service intervals, not 6,000 and so for a 30K service I needed the major service kit, and not the minor kit. Since that is incorrect, I refused to deal with them (I refuse to deal with poorly informed or incompetant companies).
