3. No problem. I just pull it off and set it on the seat while refueling. Afterwards, I just plop it back on the tank.

I bought Vann's Marsee bag, magnetic. Refueling is easy, just lift, and move sideways. Expandable for long hauls, great bag.
Just got one of these, for $17 for daily around town use.
Smaller, and looks good on a Red R, and it's a steal for the price.

I have a Baglux (Bagster) tank cover fitted to my Rockster; with an Athena tank bag attached to the top.
Baglux bags mount via two
loops towards the front on the tank - the loops utilise a clasp mechanism that can be closed to ensure the bag doesn't come loose. It's then further secured by two devil style clips at the rear of the tank.
When fueling, unsecure the two devil clips and rotate the bag up through 90 degrees. Fill up, job done... Very straight forward.
I've used magnetic tank bags before without any problem, but I prefer the baglux offering. It seems more secure and there's a host of optional bags in all shapes, sizes and colours to choose from, compatible with the tank cover.

Marsee Corona. Doesn't touch the tank at all. Turn about 30 degrees in either direction and it lifts straight up, so fueling is easy.

Well I'm using the BMW OEM one.
Straps I guess. It comes off fast and I sit it on the seat when I'm fueling.
However I'm always afraid it's not going to be there when I get out of a store or something so I usually bring it with me!

BMW OEM that I found used (barely) on the site here. Works great !
If I was adding one now, I'd use the SW-Moto bag with the gas cap quick on/off rig sold by Twisted Throttle. That is a sweet set-up especially if you are looking for a small to medium sized bag.

I use the Big Mak, it never touches the tank, and it just flips out of the way.

I use a "strap on" from
Andy Strapz. Very EZ to use/refuel. I wrote a review here on the board:
Anyone use Andy Bagz?â€â€the review is near the bottom of the page. The bag is secured to the "strap frame" by 3 snaps + velcro. Undo the front snap, the bag tilts back for full access to the fuel cap. I basically love it.

I have two tank bags from Big Mak; one is about 3-inches deep and the other is about 5-inches deep. For running around locally, I use one or the other depending on the space I need. When I take trips, they stack so I have lots of storage. I'm very pleased with the setup.

Wunderlich strap on, 29 litres when fully expanded. Strap with clips around the head stock and velcro fastening on the back of the tank under the seat. Easy to unclip and fold back onto seat for refueling and easy to remove and replace on the bike.
Expensive for what it is but it worked very well on my recent trip through Belgium, France and Spain.

Nice pic! I love the map in the background. Have you ever had any trouble with the magnetic bag coming loose. I had a strap on model that I loaded up with some pretty heavy stuff (beer) and always wondered if the magnetic bags would have slipped.

BMW OEM - good size, am forever pushing back into place as it slips across the tanks. Prefer the soft rack pack (as in my avatar pick)

The PERFECT size bag. If it's not the size for you, then they have 10L, 14L and 18L versions as well. Great looking bag with a rain cover that works. Comes magnetic or strap mount starting at about $55.

The Marsee is a good bag but I wanted one of the Held magnetic bags, having some cool features and a rain cover that fits! The magnetic bottom (Held works with either, you purchase either a strap or magnetic bottom) works well but actually doesnt fit my tank as well as the Marsee did.
However, in my local shop, I have spied a new Held bag, just like mine, with a nifty gas tank attachment! So my bag may appear in a classified soon!
