Regarding the rear wheelcap...

I ordered one from Keith Haynes the other week, and it came in this past Friday. It is an amazingly high quality piece, and it looks great.
Only problem is, it's too big for my wheel! I sent an e-mail to Keith, and he promptly responded and refunded my money (which I didn't even ask for). Great guy.
So, this raises the question - is the Rockster hub (not exactly the hub, but the opening for the hub) smaller than the Roadster? I would doubt it, and think that the hub is the same across all BMW models.
He says he is on vacation for two weeks, and will machine a smaller wheelcap for me once he gets back to work. I will find/purchase a caliper tool and take a measurement of the hub of the wheel and the wheelcap and see just how off it is.

Yes, you are correct the Rockster wheel center opening is fractionally smaller than that of the Roadster. There is not a bone in my body that believes that BMW Motorrad did that for any specific reason, since it isn't a boss fit to anything, so what gives? casting differences? different wheel manufacturers?
One could just dispense with the o-ring and it will be a tight fit.
BTW, I bought mine from Keith many years ago....he even stopped making them for awhile....he is a good man.

I put a white plastic bottle cap in mine. Put an o ring or rubber band around it and pop it in. If it comes out, get another one!!

really???? My Rockster took (I believe) a standard Keith Haynes cap with no issues whatsoever. In fact I've had the same cap on two different bikes now, it's still rock solid.
IIRC the cap comes with two different o-rings - ADG have you tried the other one?

FWIW I just got an OEM cap from the dealer this weekend and stuck it in the hole.
I tried to get it out with my finger nail and could not after.
50 miles later and it's still on heheh.
It's black plastic, doesn't say BMW but has a propeller on it.
You can see it on the fiche with the rear wheel diagram.

Not sure if I lost my original or didn't get one on the Ed 80 or what..

I did the wheel thing on my R. Looks great but hidden. Does anyone know if Keith does something similar for the ugly black plug over the steering head? I can't find Keith's details anywhere - please help.

Yeah, it's not the o-ring, it is the actual size of the cap - just slightly too big!

I finally went to a hardware store and found a polished cap that is really used to plug a hole in a plumbing fixture.
It comes with a small rubber seal and has stayed nice and shiny and snug for 13K.

I was given a round dial type thermometer a couple of years ago. With a bit of duct tape wound round it, fits nicely into the top of the steering thingy.
Showed 6°C this morning and a bit chilly on my fingers even with the bar heaters.
Winter gloves for me on the way home.

I don't know how I'm going to get the wheelcap back to Keith. So if someone here wants it, if you send me the $15 for it, I'll ship it out to you and then paypal the rest back to Keith.
Before I do this though, I'll find another R1150 and see if it fits!

It fit mine. It comes with two O rings, maybe you might try the other?

Keith sent me a wheelcap for my 80ed rockster, which on first inspection seemed a little snug and unwilling to fit into place. It was a simple case of being brave and giving it a good push, and hey presto, perfect fit. And for the record, as has already been mentioned, Keith is a great bloke and a pleasure to deal with!
