Hey do any of you fellas have a Ztechnic windshield on your R12?
The company web page seems to indicate that the Z2332 is available for the R12 but BMW of Atlanta is saying that the only Ztechnic shield available for the R12 is the Z2405.

I have one and love it. Very reasonably priced.
It has proven to me to be very effective on long trips. A side from looking like it was actually designed to go with a R1200R, it offers good wind protection with no buffeting, at least for me. 5'11"
I have the standard size one, but I was told there was a taller screen coming. Not sure about part #'s.
If you have any questions give Jeff a call, he is a good guy and has been very helpful to me. I cracked a mount on a long trip, and he promptly replaced it. Version 2.0 mount was just released, and is said to be improved.
A search around here should find more info on the screen...

This was Jeff's reply to my inquiry last week on the taller screen

We are about 4-6 weeks away from our taller R1200R shield, PN Z2406. hang in there!

So the regular screen is Z2405, and the tall screen will be Z2406

Thanks for the pic Chi. I am definitely interested. When you say no buffeting, is your head in still air behind the shield or in "clean" air above the shield turbulence?

For me the wind stream hits me about mid-face shield. The BMW touring screen hits me in the chin.
It's not too quiet, but I get no helmet wobble so I'm happy, I always have plugs in if I'm on the highway anyway. If was worried about it being quiet I wouldn't have naked motorcyle...
The rest of the air hits me right above my shoulder and keeps all the wind off your chest.
I haven't tried every screen available of course, but compared to the BMW touring screen, the ZTechnik screen gives you much better wind protection, while still complimenting the bike's design IMHO. I'm 5'11", but use an AirHawk seat pad that raises me up at least another inch...

I'm thinking of ordering this windshield. It's a good price. Any more info on the new windshield/bracket that's coming out. I don't think I'll need one any taller than the standard - I'm 5'9" - but am wondering about the mounting bracket and if the newer version is much improved and worth waiting for.

as far as I know the new mount is out, though I haven't seen it. I would just be sure to ask who ever you're buying it from if you're getting v.2.

I'd be really interested in what the V2 mount looks like and how it mounts. V1-mount discouraged me (and apparently several other people) from installing it.

I'd still love to find a vendor who would make a shield like the Vario shield from Wunderlich (adjustable top section) that fit on the BMW touring mount. That way I could have one shield instead of 3 (16", 18" 20" Cee-Bailey's - the 20" winter one is on right now..)

Me, too. The shield looks great, and it looks as though it would work really well, but the mount I saw looked like a heavy, clunky metal-shop project.

I sent them an inquiry. I'll post their reply here.

Chi Town, Those are the most admirably filthy side cases I have ever seen.
How can you tell if you are getting boot scuffs on them with all that dirt on there?

Mark, I'm going to honest with you.
Scuffs, scratches, or any other minor damage done to my bike in the pursuit of happiness doesn't bother me. With the way I ride it wouldn't be nearly as fun if was stressed about the little things.
Plus boot scuffs are nothing compared to the gravel scuffs!

That's why I included the wink. I'm not going to trash my bike on purpose but I'm not going to NOT ride my bike to avoid wear and tear or "scuffs".
Besides "scuffs" can add personality.

Unless you're a gymnast, it's impossible to get on the bike without scuffing the cases.

I ordered the ZTechnik Z2405. This should be tall enough for me. I stressed to the parts person to make sure the mount is the V2. She swore after having talked to ZTechnik that there is only one mount available. Should be in a week or two.

Joe I really like that picture of the open road taken over your windshield. Where was it taken? I recently installed a Ztechnik shield on my RR and I love the look of it.

Swanky new forum we have here......

That pic was taken while blazing across South Dakota at sunrise, nothing but roads and not a soul in sight. Just the way I like it...

Cheers!
