I'm not sure if it is a 100% thing, but as far as I know Rocksters had a lower sixth gear than the Roadsters. My 5th and 6th are only about 500-700 rpm difference at the same speed. Or another way to say is, 3500rpm in 5th is about 55mph. 3500rpm in 6th is about 65mph. Personally I would like the "overdrive" 6th better. Things get a bit frantic on the highway crusing at 85mph or so. But still not a big deal.

It is easy to check.
First look at the differential right behind the vent and you will find a number there, something like, 31/11 = 2.82 that is the final ratio.
That ratio is the "low" (more rpms) and should give you ~ 70 mph at 3500 rpms. The "high" as cworley5150 aluded to should give you ~ 65 mph at 3500 rpms.
I do believe the Roadsters came with the "low" ratio, you can verify with your dealer.

Rocksters have the same top gear ratio as the GS Adventure - it'll allow the bike to nearly rev out in top.

As far as I know, the Roadsters were available with either an overdrive, or a short sixth.
Rocksters only were available with a short sixth, same gear-ratio as the R1100S.
