Ok, I'm interested in replacing the stock muffler on my R12R. I've used Leo Vince and Remus on my past BMWs and Ducatis but want to try something different this time.

I don't expect any real performance gains but just want a better looking and maybe lighter can.

Has anyone tried Staintune, Akro, or Laser on the R12R?

Thanks in advance for any feedback and photos, if possible. I have the web photos from the companies of the exhaust but the actual owner's photos are so much better.

I like Staintune's complete system, but I'm not ready to commit to spending the money just yet. Right now there are other things I'd like to do with the bike before I swap exhausts. Laser shows six separate slip ons.. but I haven't been able to find a picture of one "on" the bike.

Staintune's -

My recollection of Staintune cannisters: HEAVY.

Getting the Leo Vince EV0II FACTORY in titanium. I can't figure out how to post the image but it is shown on the Leo Vince USA website. Titanium with an carbon end cap.

Staintune reckons there is a 3.5Kg weight saving by fitting the full system. But for me Staintune pipes just looks and sounds nice.

That's likely to cost me some money..

I heard a Staintune muffler (without dB killer) on the standard downpipes/cat, and it sounded little different from the standard muffler. I think the cat does considerable muffling in itself.

How does it sound with a full system? Loud? Mellow? Angry?

On a related matter, have you had to adjust the fuelling, or is it all good?

Finally, I can't see a centrestand rest on the full Stainetune system. Is there one at all?

I got my local BMW dealer to put the pipes on so I really don’t know anything about fueling adjustment.

As for the sound of a full system, well it’s like my bikes balls dropped it became deep and throaty (not too loud) but above 3800 rpm it sounds pretty spirited (angry).

Salub, would you mind posting your dealer's details? I'd like to ask them about the system and fuelling issues.

Have you noticed any stumbling, exhaust popping or other problems in operation?

I haven’t noticed any increase in stumbling or exhaust popping from the standard system, this only happens sometimes when I'm riding hard and back off the throttle.

The bike run’s so sweet I reckon the R 1200 R is one nice machine.

The R1200R parts fiche at MAX BMW shows a "Sports Rear Silencer", BMW part number 71607709217 which it indicates is an Akrapovic. If I were looking for an exhaust this would be very interesting to me.

Although I've never had a problem with them, I've known a few people (firsthand) that have. If something is the wrong size, doesn't fit right, they shipped the wrong thing or in my next door neighbor's case a tire with a factory defect, then your in big trouble. The return procedure is virtually non-existent.

I would be extremely hesitant to spend hundreds of dollars on an item that may or may-not fit from these people.

Naturally the above is IMHO based on personal experience

Ordered the Akrapovic from Motorcycle Accessories Warehouse on Friday and arrived here on Wednesday. Full instructions, copper paste, and original packaging. No complaints.

As I said I never had a problem, there is only a problem if something is wrong.
Does the muffler have the twin exits. How does it sound. If you have a chance post the MAW stock number and a picture.
