Just what is Raincoat? I'm glad you asked.
Raincoat is a cream wax that you apply to your faceshield or windshield to cut down dramatically on the water drops that stick during a rain. Large drops just fall off your shield. Smaller drops bead up and blow off with the wind. Even mist is reduced in size and blows off more easily.
It works very well. Check out the video "before and after" demo on this Arai:
It applies quick, goes on transparent, safe for all shields, and lasts for days if not weeks. Only costs $6 for the kit or about 40 cents per application.

This is great! I've used Rain-X in the past but not on the last couple of helmets because I don't know if it would harm the new shields.
Riding in fog is the worst for me as it beads on the shield and doesn't easily blow off. This Raincoat stuff looks like the perfect solution to that.
Can't wait to try this stuff out.

Yah. The RainX folks don't recommend it for plastic. RainX contains alcohol which can leech the plasticers out of acrylics. Causes cracking or hazing. It doesn't seem to harm polycarbonate which is what all faceshields and a good portion of windshields are made of. RainX does an excellent job on glass, but I have not seen much effect on plastic.

Put some Raincoat on my helmet yesterday morning and rode home in a little rain. The small amount of water that did bead on the shield blew off easily when turned my head. Good stuff!
