Back Protector

I know I may catch flak, however, would like to know what generally riders are wearing for back protection. I was looking at the BMW model but it doesn't really state that it is CE Level 2.

Currently, the Olympia AST stock jacket back protection, which I believe is CE rated, though I don't know what level. And my Vanson jacket has the GP armor back protection. In the old Aerostich, I used their back protection.
I used to ride in jeans and an unarmored jacket. Like a lot of safety gear, I have gotten used to it and would not consider not riding without it anymore.
I have heard good reports on BMW armor although I can't speak from any extensive research.

I have the standard Aerostich back protector in my Roadcrafter, seems substantial/sufficient, IMO. I also have a somewhat flimsy foam pad in my Fieldsheer "High-flow" mesh jacket, it is better than nothing, but after getting used to the 'stich I want more from my mesh gear...

I currently wear the BMW Commuter 3 jacket which includes back protection. Interestingly, my first choice was Aerostich which did not come with back armor and was almost the same price as the BMW stuff which did include it. I frankly did not regard back protection as "needed" since I never used it before. I almost went with the 'Stich just because of tradition but bought the BMW stuff when I stopped by the shop for another reason.
A few days later, a local rider was severly injured in a bash and his back injury was his most serious injury. The back armor, which I regarded as a nuisance, is now my best friend. It's interesting how life will smack you upside the head every once in a while.
