Well, it finally happened. I went down. Or, I should say, I was struck down. Saturday, I was hit by a cager who blew a stop sign. I didn't even see him until he was almost on top of me. He hit me square on the side throwing me from the bike in a cartwheel-flip, landing about fifteen feet away. My seat went in the other direction about twenty feet. I remember seeing the car come at me, then watching the world turn upside down, but that's about it. I came to on my belly, aching everywhere. I just kept saying "call 911." It didn't occur to me until now that it's unlikely anyone could hear me with my helmet on. Either way, plenty of cops and firefighters and paramedics found their way. After a trip to the emergency room, it turns out I was relatively unharmed. Lots of scrapes and contusions, but nothing broken. The boxer engine saved my leg from being crushed. I'm not upright yet, everything aches and my back is out - but (thanks to my helmet) I'm ok. The bike isn't in such good shape. It's on it's way to the dealer, hopefully to be repaired, but likely replaced. I won't lie, I cried a little thinking about her is such bad shape. C'est la vie.

Glad your ok....I hate going through intersections where I have the right of way and others have too stop.
Never know if the other traffic will stop

A few years ago I got hit from behind.....by a dump truck.
Luckily it was not going fast, slowing down because I was stopped at a red light.
Anyway, he hit my license plate and back wheel.
If his bumper had been just little higher, he would of slammed right into my back.
I got knocked a few feet. I was fine, the bike (which was my 1979 Honda 750F) had minor damage....

Just wondering ....you went for quite a tumble.
There has been some discussion on what safety clothing one should wear.
Since you came out of your accident without a lot of personal damage, do you mid sharing on what clothing you were wearing.
Full face helmet, jacket, pants......all the good stuff that makes you sweet in this weather

Glad to hear you're OK, buddy. I hope the cops wrote a full report with the driver's admission that he blew the stop sign. Don't try to get up too soon. A lot of the pain will come after a couple of days.

Man that truly sucks.

Lots of younger folks here on the left coast blow through stop signs. Freaks me out.

I've taken to slowing down and looking both ways even at 4-way stops.

Hope you recover soon, and no more flying without an aircraft.

There are soooo many riders who don't dress properly. It IS hot around here in Tennessee but if you buy good summer vented clothes and keep moving it's not too bad. I know the Harley riders get sick of hearing me preach.

One of the reasons I also ride with my bags on - always.. have a friend who lost a leg that way..
