I installed Napoleon Bar End Mirrors on my R1200R today. Two positive things happened. First it was possible to see behind me and not look at my elbow. Second the vibration that hits around 4200 rpm was gone. They took about thirty minutes to install. Cost was about 34.00 each.

I guess it would be hard to make these mirrors work with my Kaoko trottle locker.

I also installed them on mine. All it took was taking off the old bolts that hold on the bar end weights and installing the mirrors with the bar end weights in place using a lock washer between the mirrors and the bar end weights. The longer bolts that cam with the mirrors were just the right length and thread. Works fine, can see whats behind me and not my shoulders. YMMV

When ordering from the website, is there a distinction between the left and right mirror? These are definately the best looking mirrors I've seen yet.

I have fitted the mirror extensions available from Hornig as detailed at the above site. I have been using them for about six months and find them to be far superior to the original settings. They lift the mirrors about one inch and move them about one and a half inches out. Hence an excellent view to the rear without including the arms and shoulders of my jacket .

Actually I've got the GS hand guards and the throttle locker.

Dunno.. haven't tried it. If the bolt fits up, and it bolts on the end of the bar-end weights, you probably can. Might have to leave the washer stack in place (if you're still using the washer stack to center the handguards..)

Take pictures..

The more I ride the more I like these mirrors.

They do overhang the end of the bars.

The weight of the mirrors also cut down on vibration.

Yes, the vibration is reduced because of the weight of the mirrors. I am getting new handlebars that will be two inches closer so it won't be leaning down on the bars in the future. I moved the bars back on my RT also and it improved my riding comfort.

Sorry--not to pester the question on pictures, but do you have a picture of them on the bike looking at it from the front view? I would just like to visualize how much wider they make the bike.

Otherwise, thanks so much for the suggestion. These are very reasonably priced compared to other options.

I will measure and take a picture from the front.

It appears that if the mirrors make it through the gap the bags will follow...without a problem. For some reason, that rear shot is a bit unreal with the mirrors poking out.

That is why you can see the car behind you without doing the weave every quarter mile.

That's a clever fix to reduce width.

For comparison, my Wunderlich round bar-end mirrors ($45 ea. from Santa Cruz BMW) measure 37 1/2" across.

I'd imagine they don't get as wide a field of view as yours, but lane-splitting is a daily necessity for me, and 2 more inches would probably cause me to tap car mirrors on the way by.

I was behind a cafe racer bike the other day and he had mirrors similar to yours that were made so he could fold the entire stalk down and in while he was lane splitting. Seemed like a big hassle. It's amazing to me how many bikes I see in San Francisco without ANY mirrors. Sheesh!

The mirror stem is spring loaded and can be rotated 45 degrees in. I never tried while riding. Will let you know.
