Raffle Spam?

Am I the only one that finds this method of advertising the raffle in bad taste?
Personally, when I read this forum, I use the "Find new Posts" button.
Its rather disheartening to have to wade through 10+ posts of the same thing with different titles. Are stickies and announcements REALLY not enough?
As a forum Admin elsewhere, I find cross-posting irritating and unnecessary.

Forgive me, but I am a bit slow this morning.
Is that a joke, or do you really not care?
I find this site of great use, and plan on becoming a paying member in due time, but if this is how the leadership deals with opinions, I may have to reconsider.
Every time I hear about this site, it includes something to the effect of "great people, willing to help, friendly"... The above just doesn't fit, so I hope its a joke, and I am just slow today (everyday).
*confused*

Chris,
You are young and inexperienced. Your post sought to express a concern. You did it badly. You have been here some time, participated, benefited, and return voluntarily. Yet you have not contributed cash to Doug to help support the board. You draw a comparison to your admin responsibilities on some other board without depth or meaning except to say, "I wouldn't do it that way." Thanks.
Instead, join. Pony up some cash. Pay to play. If you feel a complaint is worthwhile, try to phrase it with a modicum of balance rather than to merely point out how it makes your day more difficult to have to read, sort, and choose.
I suspect you have little humor in your life and lack the ability to discern shades of meaning. So I'll repeat my earlier post with different words.
Your opinion in this matter is noted and ignored.
By the way, I am neither the site owner, admin, nor moderator. I am merely one of the ignorant members. So in addition to whatever else you may choose to learn from this, try to keep your facts straight.

So basically, you feel if I do not contribute to this forum, my opinion is not only unwarranted but unwanted? One thing I have learned over the years is that its the members that make a site what it is, not whether or not they are able to contribute. At the site I help Administer, we have people who cannot contribute financially, but contribute many other ways. There are also members that are there purely for information and assistance with their issues, and at no time are they held to a different standard because they choose not to contribute.

I actually have a too much humor in my life, if you ask my wife, of course. Plain text is often hard to discern in its true meaning, hence my question and apology if I was being slow or missing the joke.

I see now, it was clearly a mis-drawn conclusion on my part that you were a member of the leadership based upon the level of advertisement you took upon yourself. I stand corrected.

Your opinion is okay, I expect many to find the spam approach irritating. It is, however, one of the seven modern deadly sins to express an opinion badly, with purely selfish reasoning, and inconvenience as its basis and to do so with an absence of standing - either a long record of valuable contributions to the collective discussions or a paid membership or (preferably) both. It is also bad manners.
But, olive branches and all that. Chris, I apologize. Really, no crossed fingers. I remain angry at you for your presumptive post as you may remain irritated by the morning spam attack. But I am not the board nor the membership nor Doug. (Doug usually bans me for these outbursts.) I should not have posted a reply to your message.

I appreciate that, Mike.
My intention was not that of a personal hindrance, more that I asked the question wondering if I was alone in the sentiment. It was not out of selfishness, rather I thought my opinion would not be singular. If I am alone in that thought, then ignore me by all means!
Either way, water under the bridge. Nothing to see here, move along.

Chris,
If it is any consolation, people who know me in real life (other riders especially) tell me I am full of sh#t and an butt crevice. I actually trust their opinions!

Should I make it to Hungry Mother, I suppose I will get to witness this first hand. Sounds like fun!

I think it's neat that my daily visits here are greeted by a post from someone doing something for the board.
It worked. I bought 4 tickets.

!
The thought is appreciated.
Some say time is money, but my time donated on behalf of the board does not pay for bandwidth.
I'm living vicariously through you folks. I have to do my part to make sure the board is alive and well.

Blue, you can always close your eyes. It appears to me the cross posts are to be sure all members see the raffle. Not all members look at every forum. That is my $2. You owe me $1.98

The "raffle-spam" makes me laugh so please keep it coming.
Chris, I don't know you yet, but I am sure you will eventually find us all to be reasonable people. MikeCam is a quality human being and working hard to try and help get more money for the board. Yes, he is also full of sh*t, but it is one of his most endearing qualities as well.
