Hi Guys , Is it ok to use Royal purple instead of Redline gear oil in the front and the back end?
because the Redline 75/140 is hard to find in my area.
thanks

Mobil1 75w140 is available pretty much everywhere and works just as well 8)
One note.....75w90 is the recommended FD lube and there has been a lot of discussion concerning the FD problems and associated use of 75w140 in the FD.
Note that 75w140 is BMW recommended for the GB. I use Mobil1 75w140 in both bikes GB's and 75w90 Mobil1 in the FD's, have done so for years.

Does anyone know if/when BMW Gear Oil 80w90 GL5 is suggested for the transmission or FD? I just changed both with it and want to make sure I'm ok.

No problem with 85w90....it's GL5 and the correct spec. Synthetic generally has a wider viscosity spread (75w90 and 75w140).
If you have shifting issues with your GB then try 75w140 in it. Especially if you are in a hot climate.

I went ahead and used the Royal purple gear oils, 75W140 for the FD and 75W90 for the rear .
It made a large difference in my shifting, now the bike shift's smooth.
