Well, I caved... gave in.. broke down.. I've been a QUAD guy for years, but ever since BMW won at Dakar in the early 80's (and featured in Playboy? I was young) I wanted a BM'er. While researching I found a picture of the Rockster and felt like I just got hit in the head... The search was on, hadn't seen one in person, let alone ridden one.. Low & behold found one with only 3,800 miles on it!!! Unreal! The thing was SO torquey it almost shot out from under me when I let the clutch out too fast going into 3rd. Damage was done, had to have it.. bought it.

In love.. Then, while riding around town, some kid shot out in front of me in his new SUV. I swerved & blasted my horn. WOO HOO you say? Uh no... my Urban Assault Bike, Naked Street Fighter, Wasp on steroids BEEPED! IT BEEBED!!!! What the hell is that? BEEP? I throttled back and quietly rolled home. While under cover in my garage I found the issue.. my "horn" was the same little diaphragm used on mopeds back in the 90s.

ENTER the Stebel Nautilus horn & wiring harness from TwistedThrottle. HOLY SMOKES! Installed in about 2.5 hrs.. I now sound like a dual tone MAC truck! How sweet it is... Now I gotta go find that kid!

What do you think Y-Pipe & new can or shocks? I heard Ohlin isn't making shocks for the Rockster anymore. Any ideas? Solo rider who needs to loose some weight!

Welcome... Here's my list:
- Ohlins (Some people may still have them in stock... I see there's a pair on Ebay again) or Hyperformance
- Short Paralever arm. Raises the rear, shortens the wheelbase, shapens up the handling just right (assuming you can handle the extra inch of seat height)
- Chuck the muffler and put a tip on the cat. But if you still got money burning a hole in your pocket, go for the Y-pipe and can.

Am I right in assuming that it is the one off a 1150GS
does this effect the run of the drive train?
or is the swinging arm/drive assembly the same for both bikes

The only difference between the 2 bikes in this respect is the length of the paralever arm, the length of the shock, and the mounting position of the shock. Otherwise they're virtually the same.

I run an R1100GS arm (I think it's the same as the R1150GS - it's a custom aluminum one a mate gave me) with no issues whatsoever.

You want to look at Penske and YSS for shocks, too. Penske are pretty pricy, but YSS aren't too bad.

I installed a Stebel horn last night.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

Fun to use that horn!!! Especially when you KNOW a cager is gonna do something stupid and you get to surprise them once they execute.

I'm sure that there are still Ohlins stocked up in a warehouse somewhere. If not then Penske or WP or Wilber or Works Performance will do just fine.
