anybody put a hitch on an R1200r yet ???or know of whom has ( wife is showing an interest in camping!!!)

I have the same problem. I would like to attach a hitch to pull a small trailer to my bike. This is no heracy but the need for storage room. I can not find any hitches specified for my bike R1200R. Please advise!

Hummm.... I like this thread !

Me too... I would love to be able to trail my Lafuma long chair when I go to the beach...

And by freaking provocation if I could carry it unfolded and hitched on a small aluminum trailer I'll be very happy specially on weekdays when everybody on the freeway is rushing to work.

If I could even sit in my long chair on the trailer and command the bike with a remote system
I'll be even more fulfilled ! particularly in my swim clothes on Los Angeles freeway's during weekdays. Foock Labors man !

I don’t know a thing about pulling a trailer and I am not saying that I disapprove but the wife and I go camping two up all the time. You just have to figure out how to pack your stuff right.

I added a hitch to my bike and made my own trailer. pulled it up and down I95 empty and loaded 65 lbs. empty it bounced a little at 80+ mph loaded i didnt know it was back there.i have pics but not sure how to upload it here. can send if i have your email. moa #118252

Good luck coolchange... post some pictures.. you may have something you could market; however for me IMHO I don't want to take away from the bike's handling.

I have to wonder if the designer ever rode a motorcycle. The bike in the article looks a lot like an old Cushman scooter with that wart fairing over the front wheel.

I guess the answer is that no one on this list has ever considered pulling a trailer with a R1200R.

Even though the machine has the power I think the relatively short wheelbase, light weight, and lack of a substantial frame would make pulling a trailer dicey at best. I've never hooked a trailer to a bike, but have known and ridden with people that have, and when things go wrong they usually go wrong really fast with very bad results.
If you do go ahead with your project I would suggest you don't use a hitch welded up by someone in the backyard but purchase one from a manufacture that can give some guarantee for your safety.
I've never seen a hitch offered for a R1200R.

That's about as serious as I can get.

Sorry mechanic savant & friendly post readers if I am getting a bit annoying with my seriousness... but...I was wondering why nobody mentioned about a designed side car for the R1200R.

Rather than a hitch system with a trail I think a side car & the bike would carry wife and way enough gear to last at least a few days in the wild.

I think I have heard about a lot of guys customizing
any bikes on the market to attach a side car... and take the road !
