I will be attending a conference in SD this week. But I also want to ride around in the spare time.

Do you know of a reputable BMW cycle rental agency?

Please offer any tips regarding a rental bike, and riding in SD.

Thanks

If you rent it for a month, do you get to keep the bike!

There was an article in the recent October MOA Owners News, written by a Victor Cruz, who rented an R1200R from that same place noted above: California Motorcycle Rental. Owners name is Don Picker and apparently had many rental locations at one time but now only the San Diego place. He said they are stored not far from the airport and within walking distance of the Goodnite Inn on Greenwood Street. Good luck!

M Kahn,

If you do rent a bike from them could you please post a report on the experience when you get back? I've thought about trying one of these rental companies, but haven't read many consumer critiques of them. I occasionally accompany my wife on her business trips, San Diego is one of her regular destinations. I'm retired, so I get to go play while she's working! :D

I'd appreciate that, and if you'd prefer, feel free to send me a PM through the board.

Ciao! Bill J

Head east and visit Julian for great roads and excellent apple cider.

I will definitely write a report. I think it is a very good idea.

BTW, I have never ridden a Harley. Harleys cost around 100 bucks a day in SD !!

I'm considering your recommendation for next spring, and not at all familiar with this region. Looking at a map it appears that Julian is only an hour or so away from SD. Could you advise on other roads out that way, I'd sort of like to make one day of riding about 5 to 6 hours making a loop out of SD? Prefer to avoid the superslab most of the time. :-k

Any advice would be appreciated muchly!

Thanks!! Bill J
