wiring bmw oem fog light switch

friends,
a. hi.
b. i just successfully completed wiring in the BMW OEM fog light switch to switch on my motolights.
c. the initial thought came from don's great posting at: http://www.eilenberger.net/R1200R_Roads ... switch.htm
d. i should start by saying that i was substantially talked through this both by don (deilenberger) and dave (dderig) and i thank you both for your valuable assistance.
e. i should also say that i am not by any means an electrical engineer, but that the following instructions did work for me.
f. i just wanted to share my experience with this mod for others who might try it and who aren't learned in wiring electrical stuff:
1. when you get the bmw fog lamp switch (part# 61-31-7-694-815) you will note that it designed to be plug and play (presumably for the GS stock fog lamps).
2. you probably won't be able to use the terminal plug with your lights.
3. cut the plug off.
4. remove the headlight assembly to expose the wires behind the headlight.
5. drill a small hole through the plastic back of the headlight assembly (i used a spade bit turning it by hand, as the plastic is soft) big enough to fit the wiring from the BMW switch.
6. install the bmw switch and housing on the handlebar per don's description at: http://www.eilenberger.net/R1200R_Roads ... switch.htm
7. thread the wire casing which houses the three wires from the switch (purple, black, grey/white) through the hole you created in the back of the headlight housing
8. for whichever type of aux lights you bought, thread the relay switch power wire through the hole as well, or create a second small hole.
9. the purple wire from the BMW switch taps into the brown ground wire from the parking light.
10. the grey/white wire from the BMW switch taps into the positive lead from the parking light.
11. the black wire from the BMW switch taps into the relay switch power wire from your aux lights wiring harness
12. replace the headlight assembly
13. depending on how your aftermarket light wiring harness is made, you may have to complete the connection where a supplied switch would have otherwise connected to the circuit, since that connection is now bypassed.
14. if done right, the headlights should go on when you throw the switch, and an LED in the switch should turn on to show you that the lights are indeed on.
i hope that this can be helpful to someone.
thanks so much dave and don for your help.
enjoy.
